In fourth grade, we were told to do a book report on someone who was influential in America; some kids chose George Washington or Alexander Graham Bell I chose John A. Lejeune, a United States Marine Corps lieutenant general and the 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps, known as the "greatest of all Leathernecks". I was born at the Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune; this inspired me to choose John A. Lejeune. While reading his biography I was intrigued by his life, how he started as commissioning as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps to retiring as Lieutenant General. John A. Lejeune graduated from the Naval Academy in 1888; this motivated me to look in to the academy. Throughout my life I have been a child of the military; waking up early on mornings to Skype with my father millions of miles away, saying good-bye one too many times, or moving state to state, all of which have made me the person I am today.
I have always had ambitions to impact the world somehow; the first thing that comes to everyone's mind is to be a doctor, which was my first dream, until John A. Lejeune was introduced to me. Soon after I sought to commission into the United States military; throughout my life I have been taught to be self-motivated, to be disciplined, and to be a leader.

Your essay is very good so far. perhaps you could explain what it is about John A, Lejeune that made you change your mind about being a doctor. You should also be a more specific. How did being a military child impact the person you are today exactly? How do you want impact the world? Do you want to follow in your father's footsteps? In what ways do you think you are capable of being a leader?
