This is a draft. Can you please comment and make correction on that....

Over the past three years in my work with the Bengali immigrant community in London I have been increasingly motivated on the fact that how people from every corner of the world are migrating and integrating with developed world. From my previous academic studies and job experience, the issues around immigrants' economic activities and employment opportunities and barriers have become my area of interest. I like to enhance my knowledge from the program MA Immigration and Settlement Studies. Having completed this programme I am intended to devote my career for the betterment of immigrants and refugees. I believe this programme would be invaluable in helping me to achieve this objective.

My degrees in Economics and Economic Development have given me a strong foundation to my analytical ability. I believe the MSc from University of Glasgow equipped me with necessary research skill to pursue this program in Ryerson and the courses I attended in Cambridge gave me the knowledge of contemporary development, migration and settlement issues.

While I was in Bangladesh I worked for Bangladesh office of a London-based charity Immigration Advisory Service as Casework Assistant. Here I had the opportunity to comprehend the facts that how people decide to immigrate, what challenges they face and their perception and misperception about receiving courtiers (UK, USA, Canada) while they are at their country.

After finishing my MSc I came London to volunteer for charity called BRAC UK. I conducted a survey for their project of financial inclusion for the Bangladeshi women and young people of east London. This project helped me understand the dynamics and obstacles contain in the integration process.

Restaurant and hospitality sectors of receiving countries are dominated by immigrant workers. At Transact-the UK national forum of financial inclusion I have worked in a research project to assess the situation of Bengali restaurant workers of Brick Lane curry town of London and I have been forcibly struck by the fact that unfavourable working conditions and lack of English language proficiency are making settlement tough and there is a greater risk of social and economic exclusion (Please find attached report and the report is accessible at community-links.org/linksuk/?p=236). This report has been recognised by the local media as 'ground breaking research'

While I will study Ryerson I like to carry out the an in-depth research to see what barriers immigrants face to integrate into the mainstream from the employment perspective and if there is an index to measure the rate of integration.

I have been fascinated seeing the content and structure of this MA programme and glad to believe that this is the course I have been looking for.

I am particularly excited by the names of faculty members and their research in this field. I have to mention the works of Dr Harald Bauder and Dr Marco A. Fiola which resemble with my interest and previous work experience. Dr Bauder's speciality on labor market and migrant workers made me to believe that I will be able to learn and consolidate my knowledge if I had the opportunity to work with him. And Dr Filola's works of linguistics barriers and ethnic minority make me more interested about this program's relevance with my career goal.

I hope that the admissions committee finds my background and strengths commensurate with the requirements of this program and I also believe that I would be able to get admission in this program with scholarship.
