Stand up and command the attention of all those around you! Take control of what no other will touch or try to accomplish! Create yourself in the image that you feel would be the best role model for those observing! Being a leader is an important role that we all play in life whether we realize it. The leader isn't just the one who takes charge but the one who makes a difference in the lives of the peers surrounding them. This is a concept that I live by in my daily life.
Leaders come in all shapes and sizes and everyone has something new to offer on the silver platter that we call life. Most people think that to be a leader you have to create a monumental change. This means absolutely nothing to me. For me, I am shy, reserved, quiet, private, and contained. Does this all mean I can't be a leader? No! I wake up every day and slip on my Skele Toes with the sole purpose to make a difference. To make the difference and to stand tall to those who see me as a role model.
Even though I'm shy, I've been pushing the boundaries this past year. Trying yet almost succeeding to break out of my shell so I can reach out. Expand to those who need a leader. Who can't stand tall. We all must realize that for every leader. They also have insecurities themselves. A favorite quote by John C. Maxwell says that "Leaders must be close enough to relate to others, but far enough ahead to motivate them." Leaders aren't perfect. This is something I live by. I find those that need help and pay it forward. I create a new leader everywhere I go just with my words and actions.
I personally try to be a leader by giving advice to others and taking up positions that involve pushing me in the lime light. One such situation would be when you're in class and your teacher asks a question.
"Can anyone tell me the differences of a metaphor and a simile?" The teacher would ask.
Most of the time students will sit back and not answer due to the impending doom. What if they got the question wrong? I raise my hand to show that even if I don't know the answer all the way. I'm still trying. We as a human race learn by trial and errors. Sometimes making a mistake can also be categorized as leadership. This shows weakness and provides others with the courage to make mistakes themselves and that it's okay. I try to do this with all my classes.
I feel that in my opinion Florida State University has the opportunities to help me reach further out of the box and to become a leader to a wider variety of fellow citizens. Embracing not only Leadership but also including learning, service, and global awareness.
The content of your essay is interesting and you provide good examples! I'm not that best at grammar but there are a few things that I would consider revising. The sentence where you say, "I raise my hand to show that even if I don't know the answer all the way. I'm still trying," you should change that period after 'all the way' to a comma. When you say "I feel that in my opinion," it's not necessary to say both because they both mean the same thing. You could either say "I feel that Flordia State University..." or say "In my opinion Flordia State University..." Those are just a few that I noticed! Overall, I enjoyed the content though :)
