Communication, Electronics and Technology Studies
From a very early age I was always inclined towards electronics and technology. Since childhood, my favourite subjects have been mathematics and science I was always interested in applying in practically applying the things that I learned in my classes. I was keen on finding the role of science
in the things that surround us. From simple questions to complicated ones as i grew up so did my interest in science and coming from a science background my interest was even more profound. I still remember an incident from my childhood I had an examination and I was studying when suddenly the lights went out. There was a problem with the extension board. I got really tensed but my father fixed the problem with a cool head and I resumed my studies. I was really inspired and since then, I was fascinated about science and how electricity works. The first sight of the physics laboratory in the 10th standard captivated me and made me realise that I was meant to do something in the technical field. I was interested in gadgets and even more than that in their designing. I always had that curiosity in me to see how does the circuit of a gadget looks.
The astounding world of digital electronics inclined me towards pursuing my undergraduate studies in electronics and communication. During the tsunami that devastated India in 2004, at a young age of thirteen, I was traumatised to hear of the suffering caused during the calamity. There was a severe lack of communication structure in the country which led to many remote villages which could not plead their plight, and were stranded with no help from the government. I was taken aback and decided that I would work towards a communication system effective enough that would connect even the remotest villages of my country, India.
During my two years of engineering at my college subjects like Network Analysis, Control systems, Microprocessors have been my favourite. I believe in excellence and having made a thorough examination of the programs offered by various Universities, I found that your institution with its excellent research programs like optical communications, wireless system will give me an ideal entrance into the field of my choice, Electronics and Communication and this is the reason I have chosen your university.

However, I think it would be better if you write more about recent than your childhood.
UIUC asks for your "personal or academic interests relate to your intellectual or professional goals," and your essay does focus on your interests but not on professional goals.
If you want, you can reduce childhood story and expand the last paragraph.
