UNEQUAL EQUALITY

Please correct the mistakes.... thanking you...

Perturbed by the recent controversial remarks set off by an eminent intellectual at the Literature Festival that the people from backward communities are the most corrupt I present this view of mine. Though he prefaced that he is going to make a statement that may seem vulgar and he later clarified his statements but in my view it was misquoted. Closely viewing into the discussion the panelists had, and his statements we may not find him wrong. There was a pun in his words which he failed to articulate in a proper way and thus leading to protests all over the nation.

Reminiscing of the great Indian history, one can enunciate that Indian society was (probably I can say "is"...) deeply stratified, hierarchal and oppressive. Our society is class-conscious though we tried to abolish the daemon- class system remarkably. This is marked by the endogamous hereditary groups. The lower classes are always oppressed and persecuted. We can still exemplify signs of casteism in almost in every nook and corner of the nation. Though most of elite classes reckon that backward and the scheduled classes enjoy reservations in almost every sector but still they are the suppressed. Yes I affirm that these are lucrative but the most distressing part is still they are socially not included in most of the areas of the country.

Corruption today is a nexus between people and politics. People today enter into politics not to change the nation but rather to amass their wealth. Dynastic politics is dominating the nation. If the father is dead, then descends his son or daughter or any other relative as the default heir. For decades we have the very same rulers, when they fail to rule the nation then what is the use of our power to vote again and again for the very same ruling which proved its failure. Time has come to question the state. This is exemplified by the Anna Hazare's movement and the Lokpal bill.

The morale of an Indian citizen today is if corruption is an equalizing force then we can enjoy utopia. Privileged classes always enjoy higher positions and they are the rule-setters. Their corruption doesn't seem as corruption, but on the other hand the oppressed classes have to subvert the system. As long as this continues in the nation the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Class-consciousness is widely seen among the younger generation today. Students are more prone to this demon. They believe themselves to be superior. It is not just among the students rather it is prevalent in every sector and in almost every privileged class individual. This is not known to the world but this is the state of the nation today. The backwards are always subject to derogatory and disparaging remarks. Until and unless this pernicious state of the society is not meliorated India will not be a developed country.

Despite these facts the oppressed and the backward classes had an ameliorated life-style in comparison to the past. There are many laws in support of them. There should be revolt against this unequal equality and this can't be done overnight. People should stand and protest against the corruption which is the base of all evils and may be then we can enjoy the name India- a Developed country.

An eminent intellectual said that the underdeveloped communities were the most corrupt communities at the Literature Festival, which their remarks are criticized afterwards. He said that he would make a statement that may seem impolite, but later he clarified his statement . But in my view ,his statements were misquoted. When we closely view the panelists' discussion we cannot find any wrong statements that he said. There was a pun in his words which he failed to state in proper way and so this misunderstanding led protests all over the World.
