This essay will discuss the question either European Union should continue it enlargement process or intensifying integration within the current border, because the last 12 new entry member into the European Union membership have put same fear among the citizens of the old members states because they are not so sure about the benefit of this integration because of the current economic and unemployment problems of this countries they believe that the accession of 12 new members will increase immigration in the Western Europe countries.

However I believe EU should continue its enlargement process in order to meet its challenge which is the put together a stronger, powerful and bigger European Union able to self defends from outside attackers.

In October 2005 the EU has started a process of negotiation to access Turkey in the Union, but the issue is divided in two opinions within the EU countries. Britain, Portugal and Italy are in favor of turkey access because of its geographic location while Germany, France and Austria are against turkey integration for economic, cultural, religion and political reason.

However I believe turkey has to fulfill the Copenhagen criteria include the human right problems before join the union in order to meet the EU standard and have a positive integration.
