Furthermore, depending on fossil fuels such as natural gas or oil is too risky for a long-term energy consumption, as these are finite energy resources which can be depleted due to human's increasingly massive use. This fact emphasizes the need to look for alternative energy sources given the case traditional sources inevitably run out.
