Hiii, this is my personal statement for my GKS-U regarding I will intake in 2027, I wrote this essay with AI a little bit just for my grammar because my grammar is not good enough but for the experience 100% pure from my personal experience, I will so gratefull for you for your kindness feedback:)
At twelve years old, I wasn't fascinated by toys or the latest gadgets. I was captivated by an elegant business suit displayed behind a store window. Looking at it, I turned to my mother and asked, "Mom, will i ever wear a suit like that and work for a company that changes people'lives?" I did not realize it then, but that brief moment was the beginning of my curiosity about business, leadership, and the impact thoughtful decisions can have an organization.
Years later, choosing Office Management and Business as my major in vocational high school became the first step toward transforming that childhood dream into reality. Beyond the classroom, I served as the secretary of my school's Research and Journalism Extracurricular Club. My responsibilities included managing correspondence, organizing fundraising events, documenting meetings, and also coordinating members during various activities. While these tasks appeared administrative on the surface, they taught me the importance of communication, organization, teamwork,
and responsibility. More essential, they sparked my curiosity about how organizations operate, how leaders make strategic decisions, and how effective administration serves as the foundation for achieving shared goals.
My interest in business deepened further through entrepreneurship classes, where students were encouraged to establish and market their own products. My classmates and I initially developed sweet potato donuts with various toppings, contending that following a popular trend would naturally attract customers. Instead, our product received almost no interest. Although disappointing, that experience became my first lesson in entrepreneurship.I realized that business success is not determined solely by having a good product it requires understanding customer preferences, analyzing market demand, and continuously adapting to changing needs.
Rather than accepting failure, we carefully evaluated our mistakes and completely rebranded our business. Before making any decisions, we reassessed the market by observing current food trends and analyzing which products appealed to a broader range of consumers. Based on our findings, we shifted from our original product to homemade brownies under the brand name "Chocomoodz", and we believing they offered greater market potential. We also redesigned our marketing approach by expanding our promotions across multiple social media platforms, actively introducing our products to friends, relatives, and personal networks, and offering promotional discounts to encourage first time purchases. These combined efforts allowed us to reach a wider audience, increase customer interest, and build stronger initial demand. This time, our efforts were rewarded with enthusiastic customer responses and steadily increasing orders. Witnessing how careful market analysis, strategic decision making, and adaptability could turn an unsuccessful project into a successful one deepened my interest in business and motivated me to continue exploring entrepreneurship beyond the classroom.
Inspired by these experiences, I challenged myself beyond classroom assignments by launching my own business selling customized acrylic keychains during the final year of eleventh grade. Working independently, I managed every stage of the business from researching market trends, designing products, and sourcing a reliable acrylic manufacturer to managing production costs with limited capital, promoting through social media, communicating directly with customers, and arranging deliveries. Starting with only a small production batch due to financial constraints, I was encouraged by demand that consistently exceeded my expectations. Over time, my products reached customers across different islands in Indonesia, and through continuous social media marketing, I built a loyal customer base that continues to place repeat orders.
While the business has provided me with additional personal income, its greatest reward has been the opportunity to share part of my earnings with my father. Although I independently managed most aspects of the business, he played an important role by assisting with the acrylic printing and cutting process. Being able to give back, even in a small way, was deeply rewarding and reminded me that every achievement is more meaningful when shared with those who supported the journey.
Beyond transforming my perspective on entrepreneurship, this journey challenged me to grow both personally and professionally. Balancing school responsibilities with production schedules, maintaining product quality, responding to customer feedback, managing finances, and making business decisions strengthened my discipline, adaptability, and resilience. Managing every aspect of the business independently taught me lessons that no classroom could fully provide, particularly the importance of taking initiative, solving problems under pressure, and remaining accountable for every decision I made. These experiences not only enhanced my entrepreneurial skills but also prepared me to embrace greater responsibilities and continuously seek opportunities for growth.
Looking back, I realize that each experience has revealed a different dimension of business.Serving as a secretary taught me how effective administration supports organizational success. My entrepreneurship project showed me that failure can become a valuable source of innovation.Building my own business demonstrated that turning an idea into reality requires not only creativity but also leadership, financial responsibility, critical thinking, and perseverance.Together, these experiences transformed my childhood curiosity into a genuine passion for Business Administration.
These experiences have inspired me to pursue a degree in Business Administration because I want to understand business beyond practical experience alone. One experience, in particular, revealed how much I still had to learn. After completing a customized keychain order, I waited for the customer to complete the final payment. Despite my polite follow ups and giving additional time, the customer never responded. As a student managing the business independently, the financial loss was discouraging. However, instead of dwelling on the setback, I searched for another buyer who was willing to purchase the customized product, allowing me to recover part of the loss. That experience made me realize that passion and perseverance alone are not enough to build a sustainable business. I need a deeper understanding of strategic management, entrepreneurship, marketing, organizational behavior, and innovation to anticipate risks, strengthen customer relationships, and make better business decisions. I aspire to learn how successful organizations build sustainable business models, respond to evolving market conditions, and create long-term value. I believe that combining academic knowledge with practical experience will enable me to become a thoughtful business leader capable of making meaningful contributions to organizations and society.
Ever since I turned a simple idea into a business, I have become fascinated by how innovation, strategic thinking, and strong leadership can transform small ventures into lasting opportunities. Watching a product that I designed, marketed, and managed from start to finish reach customers taught me that business is far more than generating profit it is about building trust, solving real problems, and creating value despite uncertainty. To deepen this understanding, I believe South Korea is the ideal place to continue my academic journey. Its remarkable transformation from a developing nation into one of the world's leading innovation-driven economies reflects the very qualities I aspire to cultivate resilience, innovation, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Studying in such an environment would allow me to gain firsthand insights into how businesses build globally competitive brands, adapt to rapidly changing markets, and create sustainable value through strategic management and innovation. Beyond academics, I hope to immerse myself in Korea's culture of discipline, collaboration, and lifelong learning values that have shaped its remarkable success and closely align with the kind of business leader I aspire to become. Through the Global Korea Scholarship, I hope not only to gain world-class knowledge but also to return to Indonesia with the skills, perspective, and global network needed to empower future entrepreneurs and strengthen business collaboration between Indonesia and South Korea.
In the future, I aspire to build a business that measures success not only by financial growth but also by the opportunities it creates and the lives it empowers. My goal is to establish an organization that generates meaningful employment opportunities, collaborates with local suppliers and small businesses, and inspires aspiring young entrepreneurs to transform their ideas into sustainable ventures. Running my own business has taught me that long term growth is never the result of a single successful product. It is built through consistency, adaptability, and the willingness to improve every day. To ensure my business continues to grow, I continuously introduce new designs that reflect changing customer preferences, actively engage with customers through social media, carefully incorporate their feedback into future products, and maintain strict quality standards to earn their trust and encourage repeat purchases. These experiences have shown me that sustainable businesses are built by continuously adapting to change while remaining committed to delivering value. By studying Business Administration through the Global Korea Scholarship, I hope to strengthen these practical experiences with academic knowledge and eventually build an innovative and socially responsible business that contributes to Indonesia's entrepreneurial ecosystem. Ultimately, I want my success to be reflected not only in the business I build, but also in the opportunities I create for others to grow, innovate, and pursue better futures.
Now I realize, that the question I asked my mother at the age of twelve was never really about wearing an elegant business suit. It was about becoming someone capable of creating value, leading with purpose, and contributing to something greater than myself.Today, that childhood curiosity has evolved into a clear ambition, and I am determined to pursue it through Business Administration and the opportunities offered by the Global Korea Scholarship.
