insufficient respect towards old members of society

The modern era has robbed many things from us and out of them one thing is our culture that comes in the form of love and respect for elders. Our modern generation has adopted an ignorant attitude towards the old people of society. They are venerable but they are not getting it, there are sevral reasons behind it.

First, today's generation from their childhood has been taught to live in the splited families, so they can not resist the obligations put by the elders. Young generation take them as restrictions and often offend them and disrespect them.

The second reason, behind this kind of attitude is generation gap. Their is a great difference in their thinking and perspective. Old people are regarded as narrow-minded as their thinking and views do not match with the present generation who are highly influenced by the western culture.

However, the young generation cannot be only accused as their parents are also equally guilty. They do not give adequate time to their children to spend with them and to talk to them about their culture and traditions. As a result, the children have become ill-mannered and obstinate and disregard the old members of society.

All this has put a very bad impact on society. The society has turned into barberic. People no longer believe in their moral values and traditions. Society has totally deprived of things like showing respect and gratitude to their elders. They are so busy in their life that they cannot spare time for those who are known as backbone of society.
