The assignment : You have a pen friend living in another country and he/she is curious to learn about the major news items in your country
Write a letter to your pen friend. In your letter -> greet your friend and say why you are writing, briefly described a news story in your country, explain why people are interested in int (at least 150 words)
Dear John,
How are you? The last time you wrote to me, you asked about local news in my country. So, I would like to tell you about election for Jakarta's Governor, even though I lived in Palembang, I am interested in that election, because Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia, so I will tell you more about it.
There are several candidates to be the Governor for Jakarta, but, only three people interests me, they are Jokowi, Fauzi Bowo, and Alex Noerdin. Jokowi interests me because, I think he is a serious candidate to be elected to be a governor, because, his candidates for vice governer is Ahok (a chinese descendant). I believe that he will gain the support from the Chinese in Jakarta. On the other hand, Fauzi Bowo, is now the Governor of Jakarta, so he is also a strong candidate to be the Governor. However, most of Jakarta's people is not satisfied in his work, only a few results of his work can be seen in his term of office. The third candidate which interests me is Alex Noerdin. Even though he is still the Governor of South Sumatra (The province where Palembang is located), he still wants to be the Governor of Jakarta, but I didn't think that he is a strong candidate, because he is not Javanese people, so I believe that only few will support him.
The first step of the election has done, which the quick count result shows that Jokowi places the first, while Fauzi Bowo places the second. While Alex got the lowest support (I'm sure he deserves it for not appreciating his work as South Sumatra governor).
Well, that's all what I know about the election. I will tell you more about it in the future.

In general, I suppose, your writing style is correct.
However, I would like to emphasise the fact - you did not answer to the question - explain why people are interested in int .
The second thing is a value of your letter. You will not have enough time (20 minutes) to write down about 300 words and there are only one and a half page on the answer sheet for your letter...
Try to avoid any repetition. For example, you have used the word "because" 3 times in 2 sentences.
Use synonyms - therefore; as a result...
