Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology. In what ways has technology affected the types
of relationships people make? Is this a positive or negative development

Communication has undergone a significant transformation thanks to technological advancements. While this trend has facilitated global relationships, it has also distanced people from each other. I believe that this represents a positive trajectory as it makes our world more interconnected.

Conversations have become more convenient than ever due to the advent of social media platforms, which includes Facebook, Tik Tok and Instagram. They serve as outlets through which people can voice their thoughts and concerns. Additionally, they have also revolutionised the way we make friends and find love partners, with a wide range of websites and applications emerging for this purpose. However, it also made us more reliant on technology for maintaining and building relationships. For instance, many people today are so absorbed in online platforms that they neglect their loved ones and become detached from the real world.

The reason I contend this is a positive development despite the drawbacks is because it greatly contributes to globalisation. This has a myriad of benefits, the first of which is that it diminishes the need for people to travel vast geographical distances to see each other, greatly facilitating cultural exchange and knowledge sharing. Secondly, it enables employees to work without gathering at a specific location, thereby improving work efficiency. Take many educational institutions, for example. Nowadays, students can attend lessons online rather than in a physical classroom, while teachers likewise enjoy the convenience of working from home.

In conclusion, technology introduced a myriad of tools that have reshaped the way we view relationships. Today, people can interact with each other over vast distances, but overreliance on these digital devices and platforms can cause social detachment. I firmly believe this has a positive impact on society, as social media is a powerful tool that continues to connect individuals and strengthen communities worldwide.

The essay is well developed and written in a highly coherent manner. It successfully transitions within sentences, for the most part, in relation to the discussion being presented. This was something that was a bit problematic in the third paragraph though. The part where the classroom setting was discussed. It deviated from the original proposal for the discussion which was a more efficient workplace.

The classroom setting is not the typical setting that should be discussed as a supporting reason because the classroom setting does not reflect the kind of efficient workplace that an office requires for online work, which was the focus of this discussion. That said, the discussion was successful for the most part and came in precisely on the advised maximum word count requirement. There is a high possibility that this would have gotten an average to above average passing score in an actual setting.
