The popular musicals titled Shrek the Musical and West Side Story will be joining another popular musical that had been recently announced and is titled Billy Elliot in the month of November in the current year in the 2010-11 season of Broadway. The venue will be the Hobby Center which had until recently been known as the Broadway across America-Houston.

As far as the Houston premiere Billy Elliot is concerned it had been announced in the previous month as a part of "Theatre under the Stars" season. This popular show has also bagged a prestigious tony award. This show will be playing from 23rd February onwards and will play till the 13th march.

This show is an adaptation of the movie of the same name that is Billy Elliot. This movie had been released in the year 2000 and revolved around a coal-mining family that had a teenage who is passionate about ballet dancing and wants to pursue a career in the respective field.

The music of this play has been given by none other than the legendary Elton John, whereas the lyrics have been penned by Lee Hall, who has also authored the original screenplay. This show has been amongst the list of the biggest hits of the last few years. In addition to the tony award this show has also bagged London's Olivier Award for being the best musical.

Shrek is a popular musical that had been based on William Steig's book. The story revolved around the adventures of an ogre, a princess who has been turned into an ogress and a smart talking donkey.The lyrics of the show had been penned by David Lindsay-Abaire. This talented writer is the proud winner of the Pulitzer Prize that had been awarded to him for his play titled Rabbit Hole. The musical score had been given by Jeanine Tesori who had previously been nominated for the prestigious Tony award for the musical scores of the shows titled Thoroughly Modern Millie and Caroline, or Change.

The West Side Story has been authored by Arthur Laurents, whereas the music has been given by Leonard Bernstein and the lyrics had been penned by Stephen Sondheim. The show "Burn the Floor" had been born in Great Britain back in the late nineties, in the year 1999 to be precise and went on a tour that lasted for a decade.
