Quoting a quotation cited on a page of website

I am new to using the MLA format, and I need help with this seemingly complicated in-text citation and how to list it in the Works Cited section. Both quotations are taken from the site: melville.org/ with the main page titled "The Life and Works of Herman Melville". However, the quotes are in the section "Contemporary Criticism and Reviews"on another page titled "Moby-Dick; or, The Whale". This is how I did and it would be nice if you can tell me if I totally messed it up:

While some highly regarded critics like Henry F. Chorley wrote in London Athenaeum on October 25, 1851 that the book: "is an ill-compounded mixture of romance ... and obscurely managed." (qtd. in Contemporary Criticism), others, writing in the journal London Britannia, on November 8th, 1851, saw some merit in the "eccentric" elements stating that: "The Whale is a most extraordinary work. (qtd. in Contemporary Criticism).

And here is what I wrote in Works Cited:

"Cotemporary Criticism." The Life and Works of Herman Melville 25th July, 200. Web viewed 25th May 2011. <melville/hmmoby.htm#Contemporary>

Please let me know if it needs fixing.
Thanks in advance.

I think you left out a 0 on 2000... right?

This is a good question!! MLA has been around a lot longer than the Internet, so your teachers have to be patient with you, and you have to be patient with yourself, sometimes when using it to cite online sources. Sometimes it is not clear, and your teachers will not be sure either! So... when you have to guess, just guess. The important thing is to give credit where it is due.

I think the section title is the correct item to include. But is "25th July 2000" part of the title of the thing?
Maybe it should have a period, like this:

"Cotemporary Criticism." The Life and Works of Herman Melville. 25th July, 2000. Web viewed...

Anyway, I think the way you did it looks great. Somebody please correct me if I'm mistaken.
:-)
