Dear IRC Hiring Manager.

I read with interest your posting for the position of Humanitarian Access & Security Manager in Jordan, so this letter is to express my interests in it.

I joined the Military Campus in Mutah University as a cadet in 1997 and graduated in 2001, carrying Bachelor Degree in English Language and Military Sciences (Security Studies), I started with the rank of lieutenant and now I am Lieutenant Colonel in Jordan Police.

With more than 18 years of actual work experience in police. I served in different places at both national and international level managing investigations, public security service, Security Risk Assessments (SRA), security risk management measures (SRM), security operations & contingency plans, law enforcement & security training, mentoring, monitoring, advising, police force activities, emergency response, standard operation procedures (SOP) development, human resources, safety arrangements, project management, budget planning & management and liaising. I also served at different levels as team member, platoon commander, investigator, trainer, team leader, liaison officer, project officer, chief of operations, chief of investigation, chief of administration & human resources, chief of training and now police station commander.

My international experiences were in UN peacekeeping and political missions (ONUCI, UNMIL, UNAMID and UNIOGBIS). I worked as a regional office team leader, advisor, mentor, monitor, project officer and trainer in both tactical and strategical levels. In UNIOGBIS, I led a multifunctional team as a regional team leader.

As a police advisor in UN Missions, I worked in different operational areas (post conflict areas) like Liberia, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau. I supported in the monitoring and evaluation of security operations activities to assess and inform the improvement of police activity impact. I served also as platoon commander in ONUCI in Cote D'Ivoire, during this service I participated in implementing emergency and evacuation plans as required.

During my service in police as police officer, I improved and enhanced my skills and competencies in management, problem solving, leadership, supervising, contributing to teamwork spirit and team building as well. My service in UN peacekeeping and political missions improved my skills in capacity buildings, planning & organizing, report writing, liaising & coordinating, written and verbal communication skills, partnership and effective working relationships with others in a team environment and with people of diverse backgrounds, culture and nationalities. I worked and collaborated with different stakeholders to achieve organizations' goals and this taught me how to be proactive member to make the desired impact.

I faced many challenges, difficulties, unpredictable and stressful situations. I learned how to show persistence and to be calm, to take decisions based on regulations and directives and deciding effectively in a timely manner depending on the availability of information and how to adapt and respond to changes. I also learned how to pay attention to details because every single detail can make a big difference. All of that improved my interpersonal skills.

I am eager to be a member of your organization because I believe my eighteen years of experience in security services, will be an excellent match for this job. For more information or further details, please contact me. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Smairan
