The Global UGRAD Program is for young leaders committed to serving their home communities. Why would you be a great participant in the Global UGRAD Program?
The Global UGRAD Program is known for its commitment to community, as it is looking for great exchange students all over the world to become great leaders and human beings who use their potential to change communities by serving their societies in the best way. In this field, I would love to use my skills in this program to help serve my community with you.
This opportunity is exciting me as I will be able to communicate with others having diverse cultures in the U.S, living on campus, and discovering a completely different life in the U.S. I am a fourth-semester student (2nd year) of computer engineering and besides my academic excellence which I have always cared about in both school and university, I have been very keen on community volunteer work. I see the role as a way of developing my community in a forward-thinking to create a community that isn't sharing hate but love!
Thus, I was the team leader of (PASTO App) in the Al-Nayzak foundation. In this field, I was chosen by the team to be their leader of the project. First, I have put up a plan to follow. After that, I scheduled a meeting of the full team to discuss the plan and worked to divide the processes across the team. We went through a lot of difficulties, and a lot of differences of opinion, but we worked to solve them one by one as a whole team with mutual opinions. Communication is one of my greatest strengths. I led by facilitating open communication and trying to bring out the best in every team member. I'm great at delegating and finding the strengths of other team members. I tried to give each person a chance to do what they're best at and created a team effort that delivers a result that's greater than the sum of its parts. As a result of team work, we won the finals, our team was chosen as the winning city-wide team. This victory allowed us to participate in the exhibition "The Fourth Industrial Revolution" and to present the project to the President of the State of Palestine. As a result of that moment on, I believed a lot in myself and being ready to try other experiences. This full experience led me to be a more organized person who faces everything, and who manages his time efficiently.
It is worth mentioning that my participation in the Access program, taught me a lot about cultural sensitivity, community service, and leadership. I worked with young and old people from different cities. When I'm in a team I lead by example. I lead from the front by taking action, demonstrating what needed to be done, and keeping the team organized to make sure we're all on the same page and contributing equally. During the program, I and my classmates helped people to pick olives across the country, also did many campaigns like boycotting smoking and introducing English language programs for schoolchildren, etc. In short, I learned to be in a team, communicate with others, and solve problems.
I believe my skills are well-suited to this program and I'm looking for more skills to gain. Participating in the Global UGRAD Program will give me a lot of new things and develop the ones I already have. The entire things I have done have a purpose to upgrade myself to be more valuable especially for me and others. I will highly maximize myself to collect as much as possible pieces of knowledge and experiences from the expert lecturers and communities from the U.S.
