Undergraduate / BU 3 personality traits that help a college community [4]
Prompt: select 3 words that describe you best and tell us how you will use these qualities/characteristics to contribute fully to the college community.
I am a bit doubtful as to how to end the last paragraph and still incorporate the quote, yet if there is no way to achieve this then I don't mind removing the quote.
Each step in life propels one towards a goal, college is one such step. It gives people the opportunity to explore the world to its ends and to be whoever one chooses to be. To explore these opportunities to their fullest, they must take risks, face debacles, and recover. Risks are necessary because they allow people to see a new reality and a new truth about life. The risks which I will take in college with steadfast perseverance will help me create a path to a bright future. At Boston University, I plan to participate in activities that I have never participated in before. My involvement in these activities will benefit not only me through personal growth but the university as well. I will work assiduously and give my all to any activity in which I am involved.
Although some of my risks may not lead me to success, I have an optimistic attitude. Because optimism is contagious, others will be influenced by my positive attitude and continue to take risks along with me. This will result in a community of proactive students who put themselves on the line in order to affect change. But change cannot occur unless I analyze my failures and continue to move forward with greater knowledge. Recognition and self-critical analysis are important for one to be resilient because one can look back at failures with pride rather than with humiliation. Throughout high school I have learned to analyze my actions and I shall use this in the activities and risks that I shall take in college. With optimism, I hope to help others to become resilient of their failures and to continuously persevere in their club or activity. This conglomeration creates a supportive environment where people who get hurt from failures can gain the strength to try again is important for students who are proactive.
My intrepidness, resilience and optimism will make me and other students active members of the community. With these traits, I want to create an influence and a change for my classmates as we, together, try to change the community. Boston University is where I will take as many steps necessary to reach my goal by grasping every available opportunity. I will try, according to Swami Vivekanada [To] Stand up, be bold, [and] be strong. [To] Take the whole responsibility on...[my] own shoulders, and know that...[I am] the creator of...[my] own destiny, and this is how I shall carve my identity Boston University and in the future.
