Scholarship / PERSONAL STATEMENT - GKS-U 2026, University Track (Keimyung University) [2]

One quiet afternoon during junior high school, while walking home, I saw several people sitting by the roadside who appeared to have no place to live. I wanted to help them, but I knew I was also living modestly with my grandfather after my parents divorced. The only thing I could offer was the leftover money I had. In that quiet moment, a question arose in my heart: "Could I help them by providing a chance to earn a living on their own?" That simple question has never left me and became a small spark that continues to guide my life's purpose to this day. Since then, I have seen education not merely as an obligation, but as a powerful tool to create meaningful change for myself and those in hardship.

Growing up in a modest household, I learned early on to be independent and to persevere in my education despite financial challenges. I have always strived to excel both academically and in character. In junior high school, I balanced academics with playing basketball. In senior high school, I joined the student council (OSIS) and the English club, serving as secretary, event coordinator, and division member. These roles sharpened my leadership, responsibility, and teamwork. I also joined a student changemaker community, where I participated in discussions and activities promoting positive change among youth. These experiences shaped me into an active learner who remains focused on academic goals while staying socially engaged. I earned the JAWARA Scholarship from PT Pupuk Kujang, the Karawang Cerdas Scholarship, and an award in an English competition. I have also been learning Korean on my own because I am genuinely interested in the language and culture. Even though I am still at a basic level, I believe understanding the language will help me adapt more easily and connect with people around me. These experiences taught me that success is not only about results, but also about perseverance, integrity, and the belief that small steps lead to meaningful impact. I aim not only to succeed, but to help others rise with me.

This purpose led me to seek a higher education opportunity that aligns with both my personal values and professional aspirations. I actively explored scholarship opportunities and found the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). This program embodies values I deeply respect: perseverance, hard work, and global vision. South Korea's ability to harmonize innovation and cultural identity aligns with my ambition to build a technology-based business that improves daily life efficiency and empowers communities. My focus is on digital tools and household technologies that simplify routines while creating employment. I hope to connect innovation with social impact by offering training programs and job opportunities, especially for those facing unemployment or homelessness. In Indonesia, rapid urbanization has not been matched by inclusive job opportunities, particularly for individuals over 30 who have limited access to formal education or digital tools. To ensure real impact, I will offer structured training for new employees to help them understand their responsibilities and develop confidence in their abilities. The program will focus on building basic practical skills, especially for those who previously had limited access to education or job experience. By doing this, I hope to reduce unemployment caused by lack of skills and contribute to poverty reduction through long-term, inclusive job opportunities.

My interest in business began when my family's financial situation worsened during the pandemic. I worked part-time at a doll factory during junior high school and saw how businesses affect both consumers and workers. I realized that well-run businesses can improve lives. This experience inspired me to take business seriously and explore strategy, management, and decision-making. With a degree in Business Administration, I hope to gain the knowledge to build a business that is both financially sustainable and socially impactful.

I chose Keimyung University because its College of Business Administration offers a global, practical curriculum. The program emphasizes leadership and entrepreneurship, supported by industry partnerships and internships. With collaborations across 240 universities in 43 countries and exchange opportunities through the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), Keimyung offers a multicultural learning experience. Its Seongseo Campus blends modern learning with cultural heritage, and services like the International Student Services Center and International Lounge create a welcoming environment. The university's mission to foster ethical global leaders aligns perfectly with my vision of building a business that brings lasting, inclusive progress.

Through the Global Korea Scholarship and an education at Keimyung University, I see a path to becoming a capable individual, equipped for global business challenges. I hope to gain hands-on experience in South Korea, learn directly from its industries, and return to Indonesia to build a business that empowers marginalized communities. My business will provide not only jobs but also training, enabling those previously unskilled to gain confidence and economic independence. Over time, this can reduce poverty and unemployment in underserved areas. For me, education is not merely a route to personal success, but a responsibility to initiate change. GKS and Keimyung University are not only bridges to my dreams, but also the foundation for a life dedicated to uplifting others. Just as one quiet moment sparked my dream, I hope my journey through GKS and Keimyung University will become a beacon of hope for others still waiting for their own opportunity to rise.

Scholarship / Aspirations in Business Administration - GKS-U EMBASSY TRACK [2]

Since my teenage years, I have admired the figure of Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo. Beyond his journey in politics and the military, I am deeply inspired by his strong leadership and long-term commitment in the business sector. He has successfully combined economic growth with social responsibility, not only contributing to the national economy but also creating thousands of new jobs. His achievements in strengthening the national economy and enhancing global competitiveness have shaped my understanding of the importance of strategic management, adaptive leadership, and effective resource utilization. This inspiration led me to pursue Business Administration, a field I believe will equip me with the capacity to contribute to sustainable economic development.

‎I realize that in order to achieve the kind of large-scale development I admire, a comprehensive understanding of business operations and management is essential. Therefore, I am determined to study Business Administration with a focus on global business strategy. I am driven to explore how companies can grow, innovate, and make meaningful contributions on a broader scale, in line with the development ideals that have continuously inspired me.

‎My interest in Business Administration is not only rooted in the inspiration of a role model but has also grown through my academic journey. In senior high school, I consistently showed strong interest in Economics and strived to achieve excellent results. One memorable experience was when I led a team in analyzing a microeconomics case study, participating in strategic discussions about individual behavior, business decisions, and market dynamics. I also enjoyed collaborative assignments focused on macroeconomics, which involved exploring broader economic systems, including monetary and fiscal policy as well as employment issues.

‎Moreover, a hands-on entrepreneurship project at school further reinforced my passion for business. My team and I developed a grass jelly milk drink using natural ingredients, in response to the market demand for healthy and refreshing beverages in hot weather. I played a central role in designing the sales strategy and managing the daily project documentation through a dedicated website. This approach resulted in a meaningful outcome, not only reaching the break-even point but also generating profit for the team. The project gave me practical insight into how economic theories, from market analysis to strategic planning, can shape business outcomes and social impact, while enhancing my ability to design effective market strategies.

‎Beyond academics, my role as a member of the Student Council (OSIS), particularly in organizing school events such as the Class Meeting, provided me with valuable experience in leadership and event management. As part of the event division, I was responsible for time management, coordinating performers, and overseeing student participants to ensure all activities ran smoothly. When facing unexpected challenges, I learned to remain calm, identify root causes, and implement appropriate solutions. This experience sharpened my skills in problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. Additionally, through my involvement in the English Club, I have continuously developed my English proficiency, while my participation in the Merah Putih Student Movement, initiated by the Ministry of Education, Research, and Technology, has enabled me to connect with fellow students from across Indonesia.

‎Living a modest life has instilled in me a personal principle: to always have the courage to try. This mindset led me to receive the JAWARA Scholarship from PT Pupuk Kujang and the Karawang Cerdas Scholarship from the local government. My dedication to language learning also resulted in a gold medal in the National Genius Student Competition in the field of English. These achievements are deeply meaningful to both me and my family, as they prove that hard work will never betray the results.

‎Furthermore, the economic challenges my family faced during the pandemic motivated me to take a part-time job at a doll factory. There, I saw firsthand that a business does not solely exist for profit, but also holds a significant social and economic role: fulfilling consumer needs while creating jobs for many people. This experience taught me that a well-managed business can serve as a real solution to improving people's quality of life. It has strengthened my resolve to pursue business studies more seriously, with the aim of becoming part of the solution in the future.

‎To realize my aspirations in Business Administration, I believe the Republic of Korea is the ideal place to study. It is not only known as a global hub of innovation and a leading economic power, but also as the home of multinational companies with inspiring business strategies and advanced technology. This dynamic environment offers a global perspective that is essential in studying Business Administration, combining academic theory with real-world business practices. Through the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), I see a golden opportunity to receive high-quality education from the Republic of Korea's top universities. This scholarship would allow me to fully focus on learning and self-development without financial barriers, while expanding my professional network on a global scale. I also believe that immersive exposure to Korean culture and language will become a significant advantage in my future career.

‎After graduating with a degree in Business Administration from the Republic of Korea, I aspire to become an innovative and sustainability-focused business leader in Indonesia. I am determined to apply the knowledge I gain, especially in global business strategy and effective resource management, to help local companies grow and compete internationally while creating more employment opportunities. To support this vision, I also hope to gain several years of work experience in the Republic of Korea, allowing me to learn directly from its dynamic business environment and bring back valuable insights. I believe this experience will enable me to serve as a bridge between Indonesia and Korea, fostering long-term collaboration in business, innovation, and human capital development. This ambition aligns with the inspiration I draw from Mr. Prabowo Subianto: a commitment to advancing the national economy and making tangible contributions to public welfare. I am confident that the GKS program will provide a strong foundation for me to achieve these goals and become part of the next generation that brings positive change to Indonesia.
