Undergraduate / Why I Want to Study History at George Washington University [2]
This is my supplement essay for George Washington University. All help is welcome! Thank you!
Attach an essay of no more than 500 words indicating what most influenced you to apply to The George Washington University (required of all applicants). If you are applying to an accelerated or special program, also explain why you are interested in this program at GW.
I applied to and desire to go to George Washington University, because of its vast array of resources and opportunities. At George Washington University, I will enjoy learning and researching what I love- history. George Washington also has great opportunities which can help me get into gradate school or enter a career which I love doing.
While at George Washington University, I would like to study history, possibly with a minor in American Studies. Being in the capital of the United States, George Washington has access to astonishing resources to help me study history to its fullest. Not only is there access to places such as The National Museum of History and the Folger Shakespeare Library, but only a few blocks away is the White House, where history is made everyday. These resources George Washington University has to offer will enable me to research history to the fullest, escalating my love for history.
As part of my college search, I read over all history courses offered in the schools I was interested in. George Washington University offers a wide range of history related courses, including not just typical general courses, but specialized classes which really grabbed my attention. One course which really stood out to me was George Washington and His World, which meets at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens. Maybe some universities take field trips to Washington's Estate, but I would be able to go there every week due to George Washington University's remarkable location and resources. I could also see myself sitting in US Diplomatic History or The Nuclear Arms Race and enjoying the class as the professor speaks. History captures my attention and at George Washington, I feel I would never be bored in a class.
After I have studied at George Washington University, I can feel confident when entering graduate school or applying for a job. Along with the resources available while studying at George Washington, the University has fantastic post-graduate opportunities. I do not know what profession which I would like to pursue, but George Washington University can help find different internships to help me discover what I would like to do in the future. There are many colleges and universities which are very large and located in the middle of nowhere. Washington D.C. is a bustling city which has a lot to offer, and George Washington University will help me take advantage of this.
I love everything about George Washington, but my favorite part includes the opportunities and resources available to develop my love of history
