Book Reports / Writing a thesis statement: the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas [2]

I understand what a thesis statement is but i do not understand how to create one. I am reading the book the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I don't necessarily want the easy way out or the answer just some ideas or some thing to think about when trying to think of one.
