Undergraduate / "shaping a team and competing in the NCTTA" - Davidson, Honor Code [3]

I don't know if you'll check this 20 minutes before deadline, but I thought I'd comment just in case. I just submitted mine at 11:00! My Honor Code essay was about 1100 words (sorry adcoms! D:)

You shall not cheat, steal and lie. These basic values of a society are combined in Davidson's Honor Code. But why do we even have to have such an Honor Code, when everybody knows these values.? There is an easy reason for this - the idleness of the human race. This characteristic of the human race led to what I experience at every test - cheating. This whole intro is very wordy. Cut it down or replace it with something else; it doesn't add anything to the adcoms impression of you. During my last German exam about 'Der Besuch der alten Dame' by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, I watched my classmate copying almost his entire essay from a homepage. He is one of those students who never study and lie and cheat their way through high school into college. As we were half way through the test, our teacher was checking if there was someone cheating. He caught my classmate while he was googling for a conclusion of his essay. Everybody had to stand up and empty their pockets. To my surprise, my teacher caught nine more students cheating. This also takes a long time to explain something that isn't really important. You're just a passive observer in this experience. The realization that half of my class was cheating at a test convinced me that someone had to change this. In order to do so I initiated a student 'anti-cheat task force' to limit the opportunities of cheaters and to aware the students of the risk that they are taken. We were also able to develop our school's own Honor Code. Through this official Honor Code, students can be dismissed if they violate our Honor Code. This is cool! This is the part you should expand upon; the rest is just an introduction. Talk about how you did this, maybe some experience in tackling dishonesty, what role you played. The adcom will be impressed with this, but you touch on it too briefly in relation to the huge introduction. You can finish with 2-3 sentences on /why/ honesty is so important to you.

From more than 3000 colleges in the United States and many more in Europe, I picked Davidson College for apparent reasons. This sounds like "you should be lucky you were picked among all the other colleges" Its outstanding academic programs, the wealth of opportunities on campus, and the setting appealed to me and played a significant role in my decision. This is an intro sentence and unnecessary. Specifics, please. The main reason Davidson is my top choice, however, is the great people; the students, teacher, and administrators at Davidson. I would love to become a member of the exceptional community - the "Davidson Family" - and contribute as much to it as I would, undoubtedly, benefit from an education at your college. Very unoriginal: both for you and for Davidson. This could be a copy-paste from any other applicant; in the same way, it could be a copy-paste from any other college you are applying to. Upon being admitted, I would start making a social impact through an engagement in one of the environment groups and in a political group. Look up which groups, on Davidson's website under Student Life. I would also try to found a Table Tennis club and I'm looking forward to the challenge of shaping a team and competing in the NCTTA.This is kind of random. I would talk about how you'd like to be on the honor code committee, since you were so involved in your school.
