Undergraduate / 'to draw more teens to the library' - Common App Short Answer - Reading [3]
Hello,
This is my very first draft of common app short answer.
I know there is a lot to fix. Help!
"Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences in the space below (1000 character maximum)."
When my mom unravels my childhood stories, she always starts with what a troublemaker I was. Yet, she never forgets to mention that I would go hours without causing trouble only if I had books in my hands. Although I am much more tamed now (I think), it hasn't changed that I can go reading for hours. Books to me are more than just bounded papers and words; they are the most exciting and yet the cheapest means of traveling. By picking up a book, I can be a servant girl from the Renaissance period and just as easily a wizard flying on a broomstick. Naturally, when I came to America in 2008, I found my niche in the local library. From spending a lot of my time there, I've come to get to know the librarians and teen volunteers. Now, as a member of Teen Advisory Board at Coralville Library, I plan activities and programs to draw more teens to the library, to share the invaluable joy of reading.
