While reasoning my intentions to pursue M.Sc in IT at Glassgow University I would like to put some light on my career. Till now, I always fancied myself with Computers right from my childhood and thought of becoming studying IT Engineering. I was given training in the basics of the operation and the applications of the computers during my school days. I was constantly being taught different concepts of computer in different levels such as Word, QBasic and C Fundamentals. Science has been my favorable subject right from my school days and has always been best one among the toppers of my class. Consequently, various group discussions and quiz competitions developed my interest to select computer science as my career.

After my higher secondary I was determined to secure for myself a position in the IT Engineering field, which deals with the areas of Computers, Communications and Networks. To accomplish this I had to qualify in the Engineering Entrance Exam for Maharashtra, India. I secured a good rank in the examination and secured a seat in Computer Engineering in ABCOE, Affiliated to Pune University.

At ABCOE, I had the good fortune of having a well-compiled syllabus, which placed equal emphasis on theoretical fundamentals as well as practical applications. Subjects such as Computer organization architecture, Digital Logic Design, Microprocessor Applications laid a solid foundation in the theoretical aspects of the subjects. Practical application aspects were introduced to me through subjects such as Object Oriented Programming concepts, Data Structures, Relational Database Management Systems and System Programming and Compiler Engineering. The areas, which are of special interest to me centered on Advanced Database Management Systems and Software Engineering.

Earlier, I was not aware of the core concepts behind the management of databases and the large applications of networking worldwide. But after studying the subjects DBMS, Network establishment, protocols, Architecture (Server and client), IP addressing in the third year, I learned the concepts of huge databases and its implementations with JAVA, which gave me the deeper understanding about the concepts of Database, SQL and XML. The most appealing thing about DBMS is its vast applications in various domains.

In my final year of graduation, I worked on a research project titled "Netmeeting solution" under the guidance of Prof S.Raman. It is a web based remote assistance application that enables to view anything to the clients shown from server screen. It creates a notion of virtual space where people can meet, socialize and work, when it is used in conjunction with other components of multimedia communication such as audio and video. The main intent of the project was that user and support representatives can send files to each other using file transfer option. It doesn't use the traditional file transfer protocol but instead relies on the same secure fire wall friendly technology that powers screen sharing and file transfer simultaneously. All functionalities of this project is implemented in JAVA by using NET Beans Tool. This project has given me a profound understanding to learn new concepts of JAVA programming i.e. Swing and Robot Class. My undergraduate courses and project have given me plenty of exposure to these areas and I feel that I have sufficient motivation and aptitude to work in these fields.

My ultimate goal in my career is to make a deserving contribution to the computing world by doing an innovative research which would change the dimensions of future computing and the way we perceive the computers. A dedicated study on IT will enable me to aggregate all my previous knowledge & experience on the field and encourage in achieving my career goal. I am confident that my academic records and practical knowledge combined with my eagerness to do research exhibit the determination and initiative required to pursue a Master's Degree in your reputed university.

I enjoy gathering information and doing innovative work, especially when it has to deal with practical applications. My ideal vision of a career has always been a job that involves imagination, innovation and flexibility. I am confident that higher education would help me achieve the desired growth in a career. It will definitely help me in research and an opportunity to do well in my chosen field of interest.

My academic paths have not however, prevented me from participating with interest in various co-curricular activities including organizing seminars, serving as representative of the class and participate in the social activities. These activities have led to the development of a accomplished personality and have equipped me with strong interpersonal skills. As well as the coursework and practical experience, I try to follow the technological innovations and new design techniques by reading technical periodicals and attending various seminars & conferences. Furthermore, I am very keen on giving private lectures to under graduate students to help them in understanding courses and in forming careers.

My goal to pursue a graduate program in Glasgow University is highlighted by the fact that it offers the flexibility needed for an in-depth understanding of the vast and rapidly changing field of computer science. I am eager to work under the guidance of the distinguished faculty members such as Prof .xxx and Prof.yyy, especially in topics like Routing Network and DBMS of the Glasgow University. I am convinced that the facilities in the department of computer science in your university will be very useful for dedicated involvement in research projects. I believe that a graduate program, in IT in Glasgow University, will help me reach my goals.

After obtaining my M. Sc. degree in IT, I plan to pursue Ph. D studies. This M. Sc. Degree would be able to make myself more knowledgeable & technically advanced than my current peers. It would make me better suited to go in for research. As far as long-term plans, I hope to get a position at a university where I can indulge my primary inclination, which is to be involved in scientific research, and also try my hand at teaching.

My coursework along with my extensive IT background will allow me to function well within the graduate program. I have many ambitions for myself as I embark on this stage of my life. I believe that a graduate study will provide milestone in my career along with invaluable experiences and skills that will allow me to become a successful, innovative professional and gives assistance to accomplish my goals.
