Undergraduate / BFA Graphic Design; I received my Associates Degree in Music and Video Business [2]
I have to write an entrance essay in regards to the following question:
"Personal statement concisely describing your academic and career goals and how they align with the mission of the program"
This is what I have.

Most of my jobs throughout my career have always required a high level of technical ability with a touch of artistic perception. From the time I received my Associates Degree in Music and Video Business I have had a passion for the arts. Mostly music related but anything creative in general has always had the ability to catch my attention. Graphic design is no different.
Graphic design is to me a combination of my love for technical things and my passion for art. I am by no means an artist. I've never been much of a pencil and paper type of guy even though I have just recently started to 'learn' to draw. It's late in life I know but I think my passion will allow me to succeed at a level appropriate for my design goals. I have spent most of my professional life dealing with professions that required technical computer skills. From mixing music on Pro Tools to editing video in Adobe Premiere, I have always had a passion for expressing my creative soul on the computer.
To me one of the most exciting ways to express that creative part of my soul is with print as it pertains to brand management. Whether it is a printed advertisement in a magazine or the revamp of a company logo, branding has always intrigued me. I'm not sure if it's seeing how changing a logo, like the transition of the Apple logo, or an advertising campaign, like the ones from Bose, 3M and Nissan, can impact and change a business or if it's the tangible benefits that come from a graphic designer's work that keeps my interests peaked. There is something visually rewarding in printed graphics. I live only minutes from (Famous Design Firm) who is a leader in brand building. They have spent 30+ years perfecting what I have come to love and admire. There is no doubt that my dream job would be in brand management and if I could only choose one company to work for after graduation it would definitely be (Famous Design Firm).
I have spent the last couple of weeks researching online degree programs in graphic design. I have reviewed course curriculum and student reviews. I have spent many hours learning about accreditations and the different organizations that issue these accreditations. I feel that (The College) offers a complete curriculum that will not only teach me but challenge me in becoming the best graphic designer I can be. I strongly believe the current offering from (The College's) Online BFA in Graphic Design is the right career path for me to take.
