Undergraduate / What influenced you/ Dream person/ Work experience/ interests; Syracuse Supplement [NEW]

Hi, i'm applying for Syracuse University and here's the short answers for the supplement.
i'm not the best when it comes to writing ( my grammar is awful ! ), so would you please critique, fix, suggest, edit, add, ..etc anything will definitely help !

1. Who or what influenced you to apply to Syracuse University?

During the past four years four years I've been living in Syracuse, Syracuse University was always an inspiration for me to stay living in this wonderful city. Syracuse University has inspired me from various aspects, whether it's academic aspects, the wonderful campus life or my friend's experience at Syracuse University. Students from around the globe apply precisely to Syracuse University, due to the fact that it's academically prestigious university. I believe Syracuse will give me the opportunity to achieve my future carrier goal of being a successful Computer Scientist. However, my friend Marwa is currently a sophomore at Syracuse University, she's also the reason I chose SU. When relating to me stories of Syracuse University, she always speaks with admiration and positive energy for the university. Her experience made me more interested in SU, because she's also studying Computer science at L.C Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, which is the same college I am applying to. In addition, whenever Syracuse University football team plays, I see a lot of students walking towards the stadium wearing orange. That always makes me more passionate about the day I will be student at Syracuse University and attend one of these games wearing orange and yelling " Go Orange! ".

2. Who is the person you dream of becoming and how do you believe Syracuse University can help you achieve this?

I dream to become a successful, independent person. For a person to be successful is to be well educated. I think Syracuse will help me to achieve these goals, because Syracuse university strive to create successful individuals such as Vice President Joe Biden, and Al-Waleed bin Talal who's one of the most successful business man in the Middle East. Beside of those successful individuals, there are a lot of students who come from around the globe to study in Syracuse. I consider myself lucky, because one of the greatest universities in the world is in the same city I live in.

3. If you have had work experience, what skills and/or knowledge did you gain?

I was always inspired by my brother to be a good linguist. My brother was working as an interpreter with the U.S Army. Whenever he was coming home for a vacation, I was always insisting on him to tell me stories about his job. I became fond of translating, but I didn't have a chance to practice it. However, after moving to the states, I had many opportunities to use my linguistic skills in different jobs. Whether the job was volunteering, or paid job. In summer 2010, I worked as a linguist role player at West Point Military academy for three weeks. My job was to translate between the candidates and role players as citizens. Walking with candidates in the jungle for miles to get to the training place was really hard. After we reach our destination, I had to start translating immediately. It was challenging for me to translating simultaneously, while was trying to take my breath. It was even more challenging for the candidates, because they were being evaluated by their instructors. I've learned from the candidates how to take right choices, even in hard situations. I also gained more translation skills that helped me in my academic learning, or when volunteering to translate to non-English speakers.

4. Our mission of Scholarship in Action, education for the world in the world, extends beyond the classroom to include engagement opportunities with our campus community, the City of Syracuse, and locations across the globe. Based on your interests, tell us what real-world experiences you might pursue during your education at Syracuse as part of this mission.

As a Student at Syracuse University, I look forward to extend my experience in Computer Science by participating in the university's extensive study aboard programs. While Syracuse offers an aboard program opportunities in numerous major cities around the world, I'm more interested in the one semester spring program at Hong Kong. In fact, I would aim to benefit from the studying experience, as well as learning about another culture in China. By benefiting from these experiences, I will be more determined to reflect these positive experiences in my academic learning to become a successful student and a better citizen in the community. However, while living four years in Syracuse, I was always inspired to help poor people by volunteering in different places such as Peace after school program for kids with special needs, as well as worker at a church. As a result of, I am planning to volunteer either in Syracuse's Say Yes to Education, or Syracuse West side Initiative. If I have a time, I would definitely volunteer in both to help those who suffer from a bad quality of education systems, or to help people who live in one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city, the west side.
