Undergraduate / Knitting; Common App / extracurricular & work experience [4]

So the prompt is:
Please briefly elaborate on one of your activities or work experiences in the space below (1000 character maximum).

"ARGH" I cried in frustration. Another stitch had slipped for the fourth time. On that row alone too! As I surgically threaded the needle back on as to not lose the loop, I began to question myself. "What am I doing?" I felt like giving up. But like usual, I continued to knit stitch after stitch until I finished the row. Again I tasted that sweet, addictive, zing of success. Knitting is simplistic in concept. There exist only two moves, the knit and the purl. However, the difficulty and scope of the piece is only determined by the imagination of the creator. Just like in life, knitting requires the determination and perseverance to sit and knit for tens of thousands of stitches without losing sight of your goal. Although knitting isn't typically a male activity, knitting has helped me develop as a person and discover aspects about myself that I never realized. I have found spiritual solace within the twists of yarn in times of despair and a propensity to appreciate the skill, determination, and ingenuity required to create objects I took for granted. Knitting is a form of art that allows me to express my own sense of aesthetics. It can be as orthodox as a sweater, or as abstract as a Sneed in "The Lorax", by Dr.Seuss.

I feel like I haven't expressed myself enough in my writing. Any suggestions on how to improve?
