Graduate / I moved to Delta state; PERSONAL STATEMENT FOR MSC IN PETROLEUM AND ENVIRON TECH [4]
PLEASE!!!!!!!! i need someone to help me review my personal statement, tried to make it as simple while making my point known...
MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
My name is ___________, I am 23 years old. I graduated from the Federal university of technology Owerri with a B.Eng in Petroleum Engineering.
Right from my early age I have always been keen about sciences, innovation and inventions. I always found myself watching the National Geography Television station: ultimate oil rig and black gold and was fascinated with various term like the Christmas tree, drilling mud, drill bit, rig e.t.c, little or no wonder did I delve into studying Petroleum Engineering to quench my thirst for this search and was happy I found it.
I moved to Delta state ( the oil rich state ) to carry out the mandatory national youth service corps call, during my stay I discovered that loads of petroleum activity were carried out within this region, and this activities had great adverse effect on the people and environment. This gave me concern, I thought to myself, how can our environment be better protected?, what should be done?. This questions fueled my passion for the love of the environment. During my stay in delta state I was involved in voluntary work at various secondary , were I carried out sensitization programme, educating student on choosing a career, on the non-use of hard drugs and motivational talks. This has helped me to develop my confidence and leadership skills at a basic level.
My quest for knowledge drove me into thinking of a Masters programme. With my love for petroleum engineering and my experience in the delta, I decided that a masters in petroleum and environmental technology would be great way to provide me with in-depth knowledge about the industry and help me contribute in the most innovative and efficient way to the ever growing petroleum industry in Nigeria while maintaining a safe and cleaner environment.
I recently sat down for the National examination board on occupational health and safety (NEBOSH) International general certificate (IGC) to improve my competence as a person and to improve my perception about health and safety. This has made me understand the importance of safety in our everyday lives. I also hope to consider a career in safety in addition to working in the petroleum industry.
I believe earnestly that studying in __________ University would bring out the best in me and prepare me fully for the petroleum industry in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
my regard,
