Undergraduate / I just found out that my passion is not in art; My Personal Statement to HKU [3]
Hi everyone please help me to check my grammar or the using of the words. It will be very helpful for my admission require to HKU. Thanks!
My name is Jeffry and I am an Indonesian. I have been studying in Malaysia for around 2 years but recently I have withdrawn from the college. My current study is Diploma in Illustration with Entertainment Art at The One Academy of Communication Design (well known art collage in Malaysia). A lot of people keep asking me why are you withdrawing, and it's so wasting time, just 1 more year and you have graduated. I know what they are thinking about, life is short so don't waste your time but they did not know that I do not like art.
Recently I just found out that my passion is not in art although some of the lecturers or friends said that I have an improvement every time when I submitted my assignments and what's more my work does not that bad. The truth is every time when I did it, I always get stressed and do not have the will to do it instead I just keep doing it like a robot, what the lecturer told me to do then I do but it does not give me any joy at all. I have told my parents before I started the 2nd year but they said an undergraduate studying is always like that, you should keep going on it. Just be patient but they did not know that I do not have fun at all, drawing figure, perspective and digital painting.
A few months ago, I had a direct communication with my mom. She said that if you really do not feel any joy at all while doing all your assignments then quit, do not waste your time anymore. Find out what you like to do. It is kind of wasting money and time but It's the year that allowed me to be more mature, learn, and most importantly, always working hard. After a week, I decided to hand in my withdrawal form to the college and along those weeks I am started seeking what is my interest. Finally, I have found out that I am more to business and management person. Since young I had liked to managing people and doing a little bit of business for my pocket money. e.g. selling handphone case. It has always been my dream to become a successful entrepreneur.
I choose Hongkong to further my study because my family has a business in here and Hongkong has a high comparative advantage in the field of business and economics. I noticed how Hong Kong was developing into a culturally integrated community. In the streets, I could see a lot of diversities from other nations talking, sharing, and connecting.
The reason why I choose HKU because HKU is one of the top business university in Asia and in here I can learn a lot of IBGM courses from the professional. It can say that this is my last chance to further my study, that is why I do not want to choose wrongly either in university or course.
Finally, my hobbies are to playing futsal and swimming. I also like to watching movies and read inspirational books. What about me are I have a bass sound which I found it earlier when I joined the choir of my church in Malaysia. And the conductor say to me that my sounds are very good and I should join some choirs in Hongkong.
Admission into HKU is indispensable for me, as it would undoubtedly help achieve my goals and broaden my aspirations even further.
