Everyone probably always says the same thing like I am I perfect candidate for FIT because I love fashion. Well, it's much more than that. It's you putting your heart into what you want to do for the rest of your life. I may come from a small town where fashion is wearing jeans and rainbows, but my love was driven by the ever changing styles of the world and my community. It is with that ability that I believe I can deliver a good eye for vastly different trends and producing designs for a boundless consumer. What I can offer to FIT is my dedication, hardworking abilities, and the chance to try and bring something new to the table. My heart has always been in the fashion industry. In sophomore year, I struggled with my grades and with putting effort towards my abilities. I gave up because I was lost. One statement that my mother told me has stuck with me and is why I am constantly striving to gain my full success. She said, "Find what you are passionate about, and just do it. Because when you find your passion, it won't matter what anyone thinks. You will just want to do it for you." Ever since she said that I strive to find my passion, something that would motivate me. That's how I know fashion design is the correct major for me. I have known since my days of watching Ugly Betty to seeing Rachel Zoe style celebrities, that something pulled me to this industry. As I got older, I learned more about the industry and with each career I discovered it brought me closer to the major I have chosen. It started with wanting to be the editor in chief of Teen Vogue. Something that still would love to do, but as time went on I found myself more into dressing people and comes up with new ways to style a scarf. It wasn't until 8th grade year that I wanted to try fashion design. Two weeks before the start of 8th grade, I picked up my first needle and thread and grabbed these hideous sheets from my old bed. I had no idea what I was doing and it took me 12 hours. Even though I spent 12 hours doing the same thing, I loved it. The fact that fashion design is the one thing that I am truly passionate about and the one that thing that I know I want to do for a career and would enjoy learning more about is why I have picked this to be my major. I'm still learning all the ends and outs. Even when it comes to just sketching, but I have the determination to exceed in learning and reach above my full potential. I may come from small fashion experience, but I learned that this day in age you can be apart of the fashion world in your own home. I have founded two blogs and one YouTube channel. My personal style blog (rasnerrightnowcom) has grown to over 140 followers in just one month, as well as founding the blog Queens of Summer which has grown to 50 followers. On both sites we keep up with trends and show off our own fashion. My older YouTube channel led to over 400 subscribers in which I discussed fashion tips as well as monthly look books. After that channel was deleted, I started fresh with a pure fashion and film YouTube a month ago, so far I have 10 subscribers and its growing daily. I was featured on the show Extra with Mario Lopez for one of my videos and I was recently featured in the Dec/Jan issue of Cliche Magazine, an online fashion and lifestyle magazine, for my fashion blog 'Rasner Right Now'. I am also the creator and president of my schools first ever Fashion Club. In the fashion club I have helped my members create a look book which included a look for each month and it has created a opportunity for us to see how different people interpret different styles. I hope that I have achieved to show you that I am extremely passionate about the major I am applying for and the opportunity to continue to learn in an highly honorable environment such as the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am ready to take the next step to continue on in my career of fashion design and I believe that next step is FIT. So no longer in the words of my mother but now in the words of myself, I have found my passion and I am going to do it.
