small things with great love

Looking back at the summer of 2009, the year I began middle school .I felt my life was in the incipient stage of chaos at a construction site .Yet the buzzing sound of students voices clashing in the hallways was mellifluous to my ears.As the days fleeted away attending classes and devouring new knowledge, I had an epiphany of the harsh reality around me that I had failed to perceive for many years . Our science teacher informed us one day that one of the janitors was expecting a child soon but she did not have the sufficient financial condition to get admitted in a hospital for the child birth. The immense risks endured by a women during a child birth in my country was a rising and common problem. Hence living in the horror of the situation in front of us was heart-rending . Our teacher came up with the solution to do fund raising through a bake sale at the school. As the school began to know about our cause, more volunteers joined. In the end the bake sale was an epic success.For me the most unforgettable moment was when we handed over her the funds, as she came up to our teacher and hugged her tightly with happy tears rolling down her face. Then she came to us and prayed for our wellness to God. Her joyous face made me feel that I had saved many lives yet I only contributed my time .A small gesture of kindness rippled a result of lifetime happiness . As Mother Teresa said, "not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love".
