Hello! This is my first kind of essay thing I am writing so far and I would really appreciate it if you could help me with some advice! Thank you!
My bachelor's major was international relations, which is, in my opinion, a rather vague and wide major, because we studied all kinds of disciplines, which include world history, international and domestic law, international economy and monetary systems, finance and trade, international organizations etc. For 4 years now I have been studying all kinds of subjects to understand the functioning of international society nowadays. And now, when I am applying for the Master's program in Korea, I am determined to get a deep and profound knowledge in one particular sphere - international trade.
During my two-year Master's course in Korea I am intended, first of all, to acquire general and integrated theoretical knowledge in the fields, that include (but are not limited to) international trade theory and policies, statistics, economic analysis, supply management chains and logistics, as well as investment and risk management. Secondly, I am eager to get deeper into the legal aspects of international trade and advance my knowledge into the spheres of international trade law, business law, corporate law, and such a huge aspect as free-trade agreements. Finally, I want to learn, who all those aspects, mentioned above, apply in the region of East-Asia, how international trade and logistic system function there, what are the corporate and business laws in East-Asia, and, in particular, - in Korea. I believe, that living and studying in Korea will help me to become an expert in International Trade and Business, with a profound knowledge of trade mechanisms in East-Asia, and I am planning to learn everything not only in theory, but in practice, as much as possible.
In particular, I would like to apply the knowledge, acquired during 2 years of Master's program, to research the topic of economic and trade development between Russia and Korea, to find negative and positive aspects of economic relations between two countries and to analyze future opportunities for development and possible threats. Russia, as some may know, is a country with protectionist economy and very complicated bureaucratic system. It may be hard for foreign business to expand to Russia, unless it is a trans-national company, such as Samsung, Hundai or LG. Korean small and medium enterprises may undergo many difficulties before starting their business in Russia.
I first learnt about the issue when I worked as an interpreter at an exhibition in Moscow for a Korean medical company, that produces threads and needles for face lifting. The company's goal was to export threads to Russia, because it was such a big and unexplored market, but they had a lot of difficulties with Russian corporate culture, law, and administrative system. At that time, I knew nothing about trade rules and policies, but the problem itself started to interest me very much. That was the time when I felt urgent need to get deep knowledge in the field of international trade and law, and now I am willing to research, what are the obstacles that prevent Korean small and medium enterprises expand on Russian market and what are their opportunities. I believe, that this research would bring positive results not only to my future career, but also to the future economic relations between Russian and Korean companies.
