Undergraduate / Academic English - cannot enjoy writing anymore [4]
I am not good at writing in academic English. One of the reasons that can explain this might be a lack of practice. In order to overcome this, I decided to write a short essay everyday and learn from mistakes.
Before I entered to the university, I enjoyed writing. I think writing is a way to explore your heart and expose your deep thought to others. The feeling of reading the essays you wrote is magical. It is just like talk with another people. Moreover，we can our previous thought with our current opinion. I also like keep a diary. A diary can help me to record the things that are meaningful to memorize. When reading our diary，the moments with laughter and tear come back to life. There is an old saying goes that life is a memoir. The more we memorized，the more we can experienced from life. I have kept the habit of writing diary when I had some thoughts or feelings that I wanted to record till now.
Things got changed after I entered to the university. We were told to write essays of 1500 words at least. We are required to use professional knowledge we studied in academic English and the score of essays will be included in the result of the semester. However，the professional knowledge we learned is not enough for us to write a long essay，let alone in English. My task is just to collect the opinions from others and paraphrase arguments from those so-called professionals，then add some cohesions and arrange them in order. It is obvious that I cannot get a high mark. I know that my writing is really bad cause the things my English teacher taught me in middle school cannot be accepted by teachers in the university. The first time I wrote a paragraph at class， I remembered my teacher criticized me that'just use a Chinese way to write in English'. I feel confused and do not know how to improve the phrases. Another point always bother me is that academic writing has a lot of requirement. Finally，the low mark of my essays discourages me from writing and I cannot enjoy writing anymore.
