IMSISS postgraduate degree application

Applying for the International Masters in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies, and really need someones help.

Criteria:
1. What is your main motivation for applying to the IMSISS postgraduate degree?
2. How will your educational background and/or work experience inform your engagement with this programme?
3. How will this programme support your future career development?

During my internship for the Government of Lithuania, I sat in the President of Lithuania's office and while discussing issues concerning the country I realised that my future and my career lie amongst the leading people of the nation and within politics.

This year I have graduated with a BA in International Relations and Japanese from the University of Leeds. After graduation I realised that I would love to pursue further education, and acquire more skills and knowledge in politics. Thus, I set myself a goal to become a part of the International Masters in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies and I believe that with the breadth of my academic and social achievements, my cosmopolitan outlook, and profound interest in security dilemmas and issues, this course would be an incredible contribution towards my future plans.

My main motivation to be a part of this programme stems from my interest in crisis management and security issues around the world. Furthermore, not only does this programme provide extensive knowledge, it also spans across three universities in three countries with leading experts. The versatility of studying abroad in countries I have never lived in is bound to provide numerous invaluable opportunities and experiences. Whilst studying, I will focus on attaining as much valuable knowledge in regards to international security and politics as possible.

The idea of becoming a professional who could contribute to the welfare of international society inspired me to choose this field of study. Studying IMSISS would be a major contributor to personal growth, as well as a motivator to achieve my dreams and fulfil my long-term plan of working in crisis management and peacekeeping at an international level. I will also try and experience as much of the different cultural aspects first hand as I possibly can from all the countries. I want to immerse myself into as many cultures as possible as it broadens my views and expands my knowledge. Art and dance are a major part of my life and I would love to contribute to the cultural side of the world whilst creating art or teaching swing dancing.

Even before university, I was a high achiever and set high standards for myself, graduating with a national Honours Diploma. Furthermore, alongside school, my free time was filled with extracurricular activities that helped me flourish in various fields. I have attended Model European Parliament sessions in Lithuania. I was also selected to participate in an immensely competitive project in Vilnius called "Students to Government", where I was able to work alongside the Prime Minister and the President of Lithuania. Besides my political activities, I also graduated from music and art schools receiving diplomas for non-formal education achievements.

Nonetheless, it was at university that my interest in international relations really peaked. The degree equipped me with strong research and analytical skills. After my first year of study, I secured an internship at the Embassy of Japan in Lithuania. Through this placement, I learned how to work in a diplomatic environment. Furthermore, the most rewarding and interesting piece of research and writing throughout university, which consequently sparked my ambition to join IMSISS, was about the security issues within North Korea and the possibility of a Korean reunification. This dissertation was truly the highlight of my university years, as I acquired a wide array of knowledge in regards to North Korea, as well as strengthened my critical, analytical and research skills. After graduation, I set myself a goal to become a part of IMSISS and I believe that this course would be an incredible contribution towards my future goals.
