ANSWER :
I wanted to have a deeper insight into child development that can only be obtained through advancing my childhood comprehension. So, I made the decision to pursue a Masters in Childhood Education. Formulating hypotheses, analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data and eventually discovering the mysteries of the child's brain, is what makes me tick.
Among many topics, I am primarily interested in the children's emotional development. The first 6 years of a child's life builds 90% of the brain and this comprises of components related to emotion. The aim is to make the 90% to the level of automaticity, in order to be able to support the balance 10% which starts developing at about 7 years old onwards; the cognitive section. I am encouraged to know that upon completion of this module, I will be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of childhood and youth as social constructions and children and young people as social actors. I believe, once the child has developed their positive self image, emotionally stable and has a successful relationship, academic achievement and general well being can be easily conquered.
Furthermore, I enjoy being exposed to new culture and people. I always heard beautiful things about United Kingdom, and eager to observe the British Education System which has a strong reputation worldwide with its broad and balanced curriculum. I have carefully researched the programs offered in the UK and University of Leeds is by far most well-suited to my purposes. Many of other top ranked universities only offer MA in Education but this university offers many interesting modules specialized in early years education. My choice of this university is motivated by the high academic standards and the potential of the faculty that can train me to become one of the best child educator in the world.
