Graduate / Statement of academic purpose - MSc Development Management [3]
Hi,
Thankyou for your review! I changed my essay a little bit, considering your feedback:
Three years ago, since I started my career in Brilla, a business unit of several gas distribution companies in Colombia that offer non-bank loans to people with limited resources, I realized how restricted the opportunities of growth and development my country has to offer. Knowing how small the chances of progress are for someone with a low income leading the economy into a never-ending cycle, where the wealthy remain affluent and the underprivileged remain lacking, I knew that I wanted to increase that small probability. Today, I want to achieve that goal by studying the MSc in Development Management, to return to Colombia to lead an INGO that leads the country into economic and social growth.
LSE is ranked as the second best in (...) What captivates me most is to be able to analyze how each country gives solutions to problems that may be similar to those experienced in different latitudes, by learning from courses such as The Informal Economy and Development, which offers the study the potential and risks of informal economies in development countries, Organizational Change, which gives a psychological perspective of how change is addressed in societies and organizations that find themselves affected, Key Issues in Development Studies, where I could learn what are the main issues taking part of international development, including conflicts, poverty, inequality, aid, and by forming part of the Development Management Project, where I will participate in consulting private, public and non-profit organizations such as UNICEF, the World Bank, PWC, etc.. These courses and practices, with my own professional experience will give me the prospect of how my country is today, how the society is affected by political and psychological changes, and what must be done in order to lead Colombia into economic and social development.
By working at Brilla, ...
The microfinance movement ...
The power of the INGOs to set in motion real change processes is a panorama that increasingly broadens their perspectives and reach in Colombia. But you have to go to the places where you are designing the best projects to return, and make your own. With my experience, my motivation and my studies in the MSc in Development Management, I will return to Colombia to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable people in the country through high impact social enterprises. LSE's program structure will be definite to achieve this goal that I have proposed as a life project.
What else should I add? It's only 797 words and I feel like it's too short (LSE recommends no longer than 1000-1500 words)
