Graduate / Statement of Purpose_Math_Post graduation study application [2]

Dear All, I applying for a post graduation study. Here is her statement of purpose. Could you please have a look and give me some advice? Your help would be highly appreciated.

Statement of Purpose
With full marks in mathematics in China's national matriculation test, I was accepted by the School of Mathematics, University of AA at the age of 16. My interest in mathematics dates back to my childhood, when I started helping out in my parents' small grocery store at the age of 3. I have always been the number 1 mathematics student in my school. In my high school, I practiced for China Mathematical Olympiad. For me, mathematics is an endlessly intriguing subject. There was never any doubt that I would choose mathematics as my major.

Studying at University of AA has really opened my mind to many different areas of mathematics and computer science. I have taken fundamental courses like Mathematical Analysis, Advanced Algebra, C++, and Database and advanced courses like Probability Theory, Operations Research, Numerical Analysis, Discrete Mathematics, Information Security and Cryptology, and Operational system. I have indeed enjoyed these courses and I believe these courses have provided me with solid background knowledge for my future study and research.

Knowing I want to go directly into my post graduation study after completing my undergraduate study and understanding that good research skills and practice experiences are essential to becoming a distinguished scientist, I joined Dr. N's research team in my first year of undergraduate. My first research program was to demonstrate the Chinese stock markets' fractal characters based on a R/S analysis study on the self-similarity of the daily stock price changes in Shanghai and Shenzhen stock market. My second research program was on verifying Fibonacci Sequence's limit ratio of F(n-1)/F(n) and calculating the mode complexity. Both are fascinating projects and require tremendous amount of thinking. During my research period, I communicated with Dr. N almost every day and spent 20 hours a day in coding. I will continue my research on F(n-1)/F(n) for my undergraduate thesis. These research programs have introduced me to new areas of Mathematics and expanded my knowledge. More importantly, through these research experiences I have learned how to conduct research and work under supervision and independently at the same time.

Unlike most other students in China who only studied in their undergraduate, I have gained valuable working experience. I have worked as a contract programmer building the office website for MF Mountain resort, Beijing and as a data analyst in China Unicom. My work was rated as excellent and I was praised as "hard-working, friendly and responsible team member". These working experiences have provided me with an opportunity to improve my ability to cope under pressure and work as a team member.

My dream is to become a distinguished statisticist. ** university has exceptional faculty and facilities and can give me unparalleled preparation for eventual career as a statisticist. I am confident that my strong background, enthusiasm, determination and motivation will enable to succeed in challenges that ** university presents.
