Motivation Letter for Scholarship application
HI guys! Can you please read my Motivation Letter and give any thoughts (corrections, suggestions)? Thank you in advance)
To the Consortium Committee Selection Board,
I am writing to express my profound interest in Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in the European Master in Social Work with Families and Children (MFAMILY) programme. With an honours degree in law, I wish to expand my academic knowledge of social and human sciences to family social work and gain practical skills in child protection. Considering the study plan available online, I have found that the courses covered will best suit my career goals. Lastly, the global character of programme with the associate partners is an excellent way to observe divergent standards of teaching, as well as build upon my cultural cognisance.
I have been oriented towards the protection of human rights and children`s rights since the first year of my bachelor's degree at the [University xxx]. Group work and practical exercises during the Family and marriage relations course successfully provided me with logic and legal thinking in the field of family and children's rights. Furthermore, I gained modest professional experience outside the university, having completed my undergraduate practice as a legal consultant at the Bar Association for the protection of women's rights in my hometown (xxx). I considered it as the most valuable experience since I am passionate about helping vulnerable people and came out a better person. Further to this, I devoted my thesis to the international standards and issues of women's rights protection by reviewing UN conventions and conducting different comparative research methods. As the profile of the master's degree in Social Work is highly international, I believe that MFAMILY programme brings me a step closer to my goal of becoming a human rights defender.
This is especially relevant for me, taking into account the transitional stage in which Kazakhstan's women, family and demographic policy are today. Since 2016, the government of Kazakhstan has begun to promote gender equality and approved the Concept of Family and Gender Policy up to 2030. Due to this, I am extremely interested in the block of courses, in particular Children and Families in Adverse Life Situations course offered by the University of Gothenburg.
The opportunity to study in the programme would be a very significant contribution to my career. Furthermore, one of my plans is to use learning outcomes in one of the international organisations and work effectively within the intercultural environment. I am also interested in sharing appropriate knowledge and ideas with the volunteers and professionals in the local welfare foundations and UNICEF in Kazakhstan.
To sum it up, I have decided to apply to the European Master in Social Work with Families and Children programme, because this degree perfectly connects my academic background with career goals to help me build not only my future but a better future for my country. Thank you in advance for a chance to participate in the selection.
Sincerely,
