Scholarship / SUPPORTING STATEMENT - FOR AUSTRALIA AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION - Mas. of Bus. Admin Maritime [2]
I am choosing this course because it is directly related to my present and past work environment in the transport sector which I would like to continue by enhancing and equipping myself with higher qualification and knowledge.
I am confident that this course will in turn equip me to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development plans for Papua New Guinea that is also sustainable and in line with the objectives of the Papua New Guinea Medium Term Development Plan 2018 2020 (PNG MTDP III)
The reason why I am choosing this institution is because it is the only institution in the whole of the Pacific Region that provides this particular course. The institution also provides globally recognized graduates who are able to contribute to the international trade and economy in their capacities after completing their studies.
Since I have been working in the industry that is also a part of the transport sector for the past eight years, I see that there is more that needs to be done to realize the PNG MTDP III, hence the reason why I am choosing the course.
The need of improving maritime industry of the transport sector has prompted me to apply for the course for which I was accepted and given a Study Offer to study that is now pending my acceptance of the study offer. (Refer copy of University of Tasmania Study Offer Letter).
In line with Trade and Investment under the Economic Sector of the PNG MTDP III, it states that "PNG doesn't produce many of the products it consumes, and relies on international trade for imports of physical capital, intermediate products and final consumer goods and services".
It is also further outlined under the Transport Sector of the MTDP III that effective delivery of goods, services and the conduct of socio-economic activities are enhanced by a good transport infrastructure and service network.
Hence, the reason why I would like to enhance and equip myself by studying this course to contribute meaningfully to the PNG MTDPIII
