Letters / UWC letter of information. Reasons for application & record of extra-curricular & service activities [3]

Please get back to me on this.

UWC letter of information

I haven't lived a long life, but I have lived long enough to see the flaws in my society, such as poverty, malnutrition, poor health care, child labour, unemployment, corruption, and so many others. When I look at these things and more happening around me, in my communities, cities, towns, and villages, I feel the need to stand up for what is right and help create the necessary changes in society. Attending a UWC is a step for me in the right direction to become the dynamic change the world needs.

If admitted to any UWC, I would be exposed to different communities and cultures and better understand the challenges faced in other parts of the world to help better promote global peace and sustainability. I would have new experiences and learn about different worldviews and belief systems from all around the world. The demanding IB curriculum would give me a sense of personal challenge and new opportunities and possibilities. The exclusivity of UWC provides a platform for me to have an exceptional education and become the next world-changer and leader.

Another key aspect of my development is extra-curricular activities. I try to make myself as well-rounded as possible. I have participated in sports such as soccer, netball, track, tennis, basketball, and volleyball, but I discovered my passion for netball, tennis, and soccer out of all these sports. These sports teach me different lessons from team sports which teach me the importance of teamwork, and individual sports, leading to self-reliance. From time to time, I practice doing my hair and different hairstyles suitable for my hair type. I learn to be patient and trust the process. It also teaches me to finish what I start, to be consistent.

I work at my parent's shop during my school breaks, cashiering and serving clients, and this experience teaches me to be responsible and have integrity, especially with respect to money. I also learn how to engage with clients socially and respectfully. Serving at my local church leads me to have compassion for the less fortunate and help the people in my community despite their status in society. I also volunteered at a special needs center in my community for a few weeks, and it gave me a sense of purpose and fulfillment to give back to my community. I find pride and joy in serving in my community.
