Overall, it is clear that other goods and services occupied the majority percentage in Japan, while in Malaysia it was housing. In addition, the amount of spending allocated for food quite similar for both countries.
In Malaysia, spending on housing accounted for the highest percentage of 34%, while in Japan, this category hold a lower proportion compared to some other services. Besides, food expenditure in both Malaysia and Japan has quite similar percentages at 27% and 24% respectively.
However, transport in Malaysia represented 20% and it is twice as much as in Japan. In addition, the healthcare constituted the lowest percentage in both Malaysia and Japan at 3% and 6% respectively. Finally, others goods and services make up a relatively large share in both countries, about 26-29%.
