Writing Feedback / TASK 1: LINE GRAPH - Comparison of the number of 13-year-olds learning French and Mandarin [2]

Note: Only from 2000 - 2010
The line graph shows how many 13-year-old students studied French and Mandarin from 2000 to 2010 in a school in England.
Overall, the number of 13-year-old students choosing Mandarin to study increased but French was still more popular in that period.
According to the graph, Mandarin has risen in popularity during this time. On the other hand, the trend for French was the opposite. In 2000, the number of students who selected French was 150, compared to just about 10 students who chose Mandarin. So there was a considerable difference in numbers at this time. Over the next five years, the figure fell significantly for French, but increased dramatically for Mandarin and reached a peak at 75 students.

The trends haven't altered all that much since 2005. Although it peaked in 2006, the number of 13-year-old students who learnt French has stayed relatively steady at 90 students ever since. On the other hand, fewer students were enrolled in Mandarin in 2006, after which it fluctuated, and eventually reached 75 in 2010.
