Letters / Motivation letter for Masters Program on Applied Computational Mechanics at Skoltech University [2]

Hello everyone! Can anyone help me with my motivation letter? Are my ideas good or not? Should I add something, or shorten some ideas? Any comments would be useful, thanks in advance.

Here is the Letter,

Dear Admissions Committee,

I am reaching out to express my strong interest in applying for the Master's program in Applied Computational Mechanics at Skoltech University in Moscow, Russia. I firmly believe that my past experiences and future skill development make me an ideal candidate for this esteemed program.

I have always been fascinated by the process of conceptualizing and creating something from scratch. My intense focus on physics and mathematics during my secondary school years was driven by a strong desire to understand our physical world and environment. This unwavering passion led me to pursue a bachelor's degree in Industrial and Manufacturing, as I was determined to understand how industries and firms operate to develop their end products.

During my undergraduate studies, I extensively explored both theoretical and practical aspects of manufacturing and mechanics, establishing a solid foundation in fundamental concepts. Furthermore, I enhanced my coursework in Mechanical Design, Finite Element Analysis, Statistics, Machine Learning, and Algorithm Development through volunteer projects, internships, and extracurricular courses in my field. My initial experience of volunteering with the Student Formula 1 car society at university ignited my passion to delve deeper into Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). To pursue my interest, I actively participated in an extracurricular course provided by the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Pakistan, where I surpassed the beginner level in my understanding of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

Throughout this time, my interest in machine learning, data science, and algorithm development has grown. I have acquired skills that are invaluable in manipulating and visualizing large datasets generated from FEA simulation and CFD analysis. Furthermore, my solid foundation in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB allows me to implement algorithms efficiently, with a keen eye for details and strong analytical capabilities. As a result, I selected "Fabrication of IoT-Based Inspection System" as my Final Year Project. This project allowed me to sharpen my skills through practical engineering challenges. It involved implementing computer vision programming and models to conduct measurement inspections of mechanical parts using a camera, to significantly enhance the accuracy and precision of dimensional measurement. Throughout the project, I led various statistical and data analytics stages, as well as model algorithm development to ensure the successful execution of my final product. My final year project fueled my passion for fabrication, design for manufacturing, machine learning, embedded algorithm development, and their vast potential to solve real-world problems.

During my time at university, I took on multiple internships and projects, often in a leadership capacity, to actively enhance my practical skills and gain hands-on experience. I significantly contributed to solving various engineering and mechanical design problems while honing my expertise in software tools like Solidworks, Fusion 360, Ansys, and Python. Furthermore, I am deeply passionate about volunteering and have made valuable contributions to development projects and community improvement activities.

After earning my Bachelor's degree, I successfully secured a position as a Design Engineer at an electric vehicle startup. I am a crucial member of the Research and Development department, where I have been mastering various aspects of automobile part design and design optimizations through rigorous research and analysis. My current role involves spearheading the design of top-notch plastic parts for electric vehicles and conducting dynamic simulations such as mold flow analysis and assessing the aerodynamic effects of components. I am also proactively enhancing my skills in software tools like Ansys Fluent, Solidworks, and Autodesk Mold Flow. Additionally, I hold the pivotal role of Designated National Representative (DNR) for plastic components, working in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to rigorously analyze and interpret simulation results. I also take charge in liaising with vendors and different component suppliers to ensure that the final product meets the highest quality standards.

In recent years, humanity has set its sights on the stars and has made significant strides in that direction. I am determined to be a vital part of this journey and to contribute to the engineering community with new ideas, concepts, and techniques from every imaginable aspect and field. My goal is to play a pivotal role in contributing to this organization by advancing my engineering skills and remaining at the forefront of mechanical and computational engineering-related research and analysis. Specifically, I am captivated by the rapidly evolving fields of complex aircraft simulation and operation of complex and autonomous systems, and I am confident that I have what it takes to make a meaningful contribution to these areas.

After conducting a thorough analysis of my personal, career, and life goals, I am absolutely confident that this decision will mark a significant milestone in my academic and professional journey. Following a meticulous evaluation of the department, course, and facilities, I am convinced that the study environment will offer me an unparalleled experience, broadening my horizons and positioning me as a valuable asset to the global community and humanity at large.

Once again I am grateful for considering my application and I look forward to a favorable reply.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Muhammad Ali Ur Rehman
