Scholarship / Political landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Chevening career plan [3]

The complex and fragmented political landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina presents both challenges and opportunities for inclusive governance. While each level of government often operates in isolation, I am committed to addressing these divisions by facilitating collaborative dialogue among political parties. Though I am not yet working with UN Women, my short-term career goal is to join an organization like UN Women that fosters national-level initiatives for inclusive governance and political accountability, aligning closely with my vision for Bosnia.
In this role, I aspire to contribute to projects that directly tackle political fragmentation by facilitating consultations and developing strategies to encourage cooperation. Working under the guidance of the UN Women Governance and Leadership Coordinator, I would help design and execute in-person consultations with political parties across Bosnia. This work involves creating a robust methodology for these consultations, setting agendas, preparing materials, and ensuring all relevant topics are covered with accurate, timely information. Supported by a National Consultant, I would assist in the facilitation of these workshops and provide structured recommendations that address systemic governance issues. Ultimately, this position would enable me to contribute to tangible progress in Bosnia's political sphere by guiding parties toward strategic cooperation and promoting gender-responsive policies.
The Chevening Scholarship would play a critical role in helping me achieve this goal by equipping me with the academic foundation and professional network required for effective engagement. In the UK, I plan to focus my studies on governance and policy, deepening my understanding of inclusive governance frameworks. Learning from experts and peers in international politics would expand my knowledge of how multilateral organizations and governments collaborate to drive policy changes-insights that I can directly apply to Bosnia's context. Additionally, studying under Dr. James Morrison, whose expertise in the role of intellectuals in policy development aligns with my interest in creating more thoughtful and collaborative governance structures, will offer invaluable perspectives.
In the long term, I envision leveraging the skills and experiences gained through my studies and work with UN Women to create a nonprofit organization focused on inclusive policymaking for marginalized groups within Bosnia. This organization would aim to bridge the gaps between policy formulation and implementation by fostering civic participation among underrepresented communities. By training local leaders and collaborating with existing institutions, I hope to build a coalition that can contribute meaningfully to Bosnia's national development agenda.
By joining UN Women and contributing to projects that bridge political divides, I aim to help create a more unified and cooperative political environment in Bosnia. With the support of the Chevening community and its extensive alumni network, I am confident that I will be able to develop and implement innovative, inclusive solutions to Bosnia's most pressing political challenges. Through my short-term and long-term goals, I am committed to building a Bosnia where governance is characterized by inclusivity, accountability, and constructive collaboration.
