Letters / Motivation letter for admission to Master International Business Engineering IAE Montpellier [2]

Hi everyone,
I'm applying for a Master's program in France IAE montpellier, where the motivation letter is limited to just one page. I would really appreciate feedback on whether the structure of my letter is concise, coherent, and aligned with the program I'm applying to. Any suggestions for improving clarity, flow, or content would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance for your time and insights.

Dear madam and monsieur,
My passion for sales and business development led me to pursue a role as a Business Developer at an Indonesian vanilla export company. Working directly with our French partners on client coordination, sales, and product negotiation gave me practical insights into commercial and operational challenges of cross-border trade. These experiences motivated me to deepen my knowledge in export market development and international sales strategy through the Master in International Business Engineering at IAE Montpellier, to build my export company in the future.

The previous academic journey in Information Technology also nurtured my interest in sales and business, as it trained me in analytical thinking and problem-solving. During this time, I founded a Food & Beverage (F&B) venture, Ayam Goreng Sebrang, which received recognition from the local government for creativity and community empowerment. Managing this business sharpened my focus on quality consistency, customer engagement, and operational management. My involvement in mentoring local MSMEs in the SiBakul Jogja community further developed these skills as I supported business owners with inventory management and workflow organization. These experiences further built the entrepreneurial mindset that now directs my focus toward international sales.

My work in export operations involved coordinating between local suppliers and international buyers on price negotiation, shipment arrangement, and quality control, which improved effective communication across the supply chain. In 2024, I succeeded in acquiring five new buyers and secured repeat orders from existing clients. While my coordination skills provide a solid foundation, I have recognized that driving business growth requires deeper expertise in pricing strategy, market development, and long-term commercial agreements, competencies I aim to develop during my master's studies.

The Master in International Business Engineering at IAE Montpellier, specifically the International Sales specialization, is the best fit for my objectives. Courses such as International Sales, Negotiation and Communication Business, and Innovation Management align perfectly with my career goals. Moreover, IAE Montpellier's partnerships with SMEs and companies such as Bonduelle Group and Danone provide opportunities for hands-on experience in European markets, which would enhance my understanding of cross-border client management and export operations. This practical exposure will strengthen my ability to adapt sales strategies to diverse commercial and cultural environments.

Upon completing my studies, I would like to work as an international sales or export manager, particularly in companies linking Southeast Asia and Europe, such as Louis Dreyfus Company. In the long term, I plan to establish an export business specializing in high-quality Indonesian agricultural products. Through this venture, I aspire to strengthen trade relations between Indonesia and France by supplying reliable, well-priced goods that meet market demand. As a future IAE Montpellier alumnus, I hope to serve as a commercial bridge between the two regions.

I am confident that the International Business Engineering program at IAE Montpellier is the most suitable platform to advance my academic and professional goals. Developing my capabilities in international sales through this program would enable me to bring new perspectives to export development in Indonesia. I am committed to expanding my knowledge, network, and expertise as part of IAE Montpellier's vibrant community. Thank you for considering my application.

Undergraduate / Personal Statement Master MOTIS IN France [2]

Hello everyone, I have finished writing my personal statement for a school application in France. There are several points that need to be included in this statement. Please kindly to check and review,

- Describe your academic interests and reasons for applying.
- Detail your career objectives and any relevant non -academic achievements as well as any publications
- Outline any other relevant experience including attendance at specialist workshops or short courses.
- In addition, a detailed curriculum of your bachelor program can be useful in appraising your background

My primary academic interest has been focused in technology management and business development. This interest shaped my career path to become an entrepreneur and establish my first Food and Beverage (F&B) venture, Ayam Goreng Sebrang, while studying Information Technology. Together with two co-founders and two staff members, I managed the operations without proper planning frameworks or structured risk evaluation. As the business grew, daily operational demands intensified and caused the vulnerability of our venture. This experience made me realize how systematic technology management, especially project planning and risk-based decision-making, could have stabilized our operations. It also drives me to deepen my knowledge through the Master of Management of Technology and Information Systems (MoTIS) at ESSEC Paris University, which would help me to build a scalable and technology-enabled food startup.

During my bachelor's studies, I explored the fundamentals of information systems, project management, and business process analysis, gaining theoretical and analytical tools that I directly applied to my venture. For example, principles from business process modeling helped me to design the outlet layout and map our operational flow, from procurement to food preparation and order fulfillment, to reduce unnecessary movement and shorten service time. My coursework in systems analysis also guided me in identifying bottlenecks in our daily operations, including inconsistent stock updates and undefined roles that affected our consistency of service. These academic foundations honed my skills to develop a more systematic business in operations. Besides, I assisted local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the SiBakul Jogja community. Here, I mentored owners who struggled with basic task organization and inventory control. Introducing them to task and inventory management tools, such as Notion and Google Workspace required more than technical instruction. I had to translate concepts like task dependency, data visibility, and process standardization into practical workflows that suited small businesses with limited digital literacy. This experience taught me how crucial change management is when integrating technology into traditional business environments, a challenge I want to study more deeply through master's studies.

To strengthen my managerial capacity, I joined the BRIncubator program organized by a national bank. This program exposed me to CRM systems and IT strategy frameworks on a more professional level. We analyzed customer lifecycle models, mapped operational touchpoints, and tested digital solutions to streamline internal coordination. Afterwards, I implemented these tools in my own venture, helping reduce task delays by 30%. I then evaluated these processes that inefficiencies often stem from unclear processes rather than the absence of digital tools. This incubation also provided a strategic role of IT in scaling a business, not merely as a tool for automation, but as a foundation for data-driven decision-making. While my project management principles gave a solid foundation, I recognized that developing intelligent business requires a deeper comprehensive of methods for assessing risks, forecasting operational complexity, and aligning digital tools with organizational objectives.

Studying the Master of MoTis with a concentration in technology management is the best fit with my objectives. I am particularly drawn to the courses such as IS Project Management that strongly emphasis on agile methods and structured planning aligns with the coordination challenges I experienced in my F&B venture and while supporting local MSMEs. On the other hand, the Risk Management course would equip me with frameworks to anticipate and mitigate operational risks related to inventory, supply chain, SOP development, and financial constraints. The program offers ESSEC's project-based coursework and internship opportunities, where it would allow me to develop IT strategies directly within SMEs and startup environments.

Beyond studying, I would like to participate in ESSEC's entrepreneurial community, workshops, and innovation projects for SMEs. Learning from peers and professors will help me reinforce my contribution to the sustainability of Indonesian MSMEs. The international environment also presents an opportunity to practice my French fluency and collaborate within Paris's dynamic innovation ecosystem.

My first objective after completing two years of studies, I would like to work in France as an Innovation Project Specialist for 1-2 years to develop my expertise in technology management, project planning, and risk analysis. This role will enable me to design and implement technology-enabled operational frameworks that I will later be able to adapt for Indonesian MSMEs, including those in the SiBakul Jogja community. Also, I expect to expand my networks with business practitioners and startup founders, which may support future collaboration with Indonesia's Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. These networks could later be invited to MSME incubator programs as facilitators or mentors, strengthening the bilateral relationships between Indonesia and France.

I also plan to scale my F&B venture in Yogyakarta into a more sustainable food startup. Currently, we operate one outlet with five local employees and have received a Creative and Empowerment award from the Bantul local government. After I have finished studies, my priority is to refine our operational workflow using IT tools, project management principles, and standardized SOPs to establish an autopilot business model. I hope to transform this approach into a replicable system that future foodpreneurs can adopt to run technology-enabled and well-managed F&B ventures. My long term goal is to build a consultancy firm that equips local entrepreneurs in Yogyakarta with IT-based strategies for business development. I envision myself contributing more in government programs and the SiBakul Jogja community as a mentor, providing training on digital business for the F&B sector.

Ultimately, I am confident that the MoTIS program at ESSEC Paris University is the most suitable platform to advance my academic and professional goals. By strengthening my capabilities in technology management, I aim to bring new perspectives to MSME development in Indonesia. I am committed to expanding my knowledge, network, and expertise as part of ESSEC's vibrant community.

Letters / Motivation letter for admission to master program in ESIEE Paris University [2]

Hi everyone! I'm applying for the MSc in Management of Technology and Information Systems (MoTis), France. Since the program doesn't specify a motivation letter format, I structured mine around four main sections:

1. Personal Strengths
2. Academic & Professional Background
3. Study Plan (Program Fit)
4. Career Plan & Contribution

I'd really appreciate any feedback on whether my essay clearly aligns with the program's learning outcomes, shows my motivation convincingly, and maintains a good flow. I'm especially open to comments about clarity, realism, or tone. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and help!

with love,
Mita

Here's my essay:

Dear Madam/Monsieur,

Running a small business in a low-income family was about survival. I witnessed that hard work alone rarely ensures sustainable growth. This drove me to delve deep into how technology management could improve productivity in business operations, since many micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) still struggle to maximize its benefits. Before working in a small-sized export company, I studied Information Technology while managing my own food and beverage (F&B) business and helping MSMEs use digital management tools. These experiences impressed me that application of technology management requires profound structured project planning and risk management, expertise that I aim to deepen in the future, particularly within the MSMEs sector.

This story started during my undergraduate studies, when I ran my F&B business while mentoring women-led enterprises in the SiBakul Jogja community. As a mentor and founder, I was responsible for handling teams with fast-moving tasks using IT management tools, but there was no well-organized planning for each task and resources. As a consequence, the tools were underutilized causing day-to-day operations chaotic and business growth was slow. Similarly, working in a small-sized export company with our French partners gave me the chance to understand the whole workflow of the risk mitigation side of IT application management. However, inefficient risk management in IT system integration frequently caused shipment delays and our compliance in foreign regulations. Experiencing firsthand complexity in business operations, effective technology management supported by extensive planning and risk management skills contributes in helping business productivity.

Motivated to bridge this gap, I believe the Master's in Management of Technology and Information Systems (MoTis) with a concentration in technology management at ESIEE Paris University is the best fit with my objectives. What draws me specifically to ESIEE Paris is the course IS Project Management would help me to excel in the focus of project planning, agile methods, and execution, enable the use of management tools to structure workflows and allocate resources efficiently. Risk Management course, on the other hand, would provide me a clear understanding of the risk-based approach to mitigate potential problems, which completely aligns with my purpose of ensuring smooth cross-border operations. Further, I intend to engage in incubation-based technology management under the ESIEE's innovation network, and I believe France's business environment for innovation will amplify my entrepreneurial skills.

Beyond studying, I am eager to actively share my experience with Indonesia's MSMEs context and my journey in F&B business to ESIEE's entrepreneurial community, workshops, and classes. For example, presenting my work with the SiBakul Jogja community in mentoring e-commerce and Google Looker Studio gives me the privilege to understand more about implementing management tools for project planning and risk-based decisions. Additionally, becoming part of an international students community will give me an excellent opportunity to uphold my French language fluency and collaboration skills in Paris's environment and its surrounding.

After two years of completing my studies, I will be ready to leverage my career as an Innovation Project Specialist in France, where I gain experience in application of technology management, planning, and analyzing risks within French industries and startups. This involvement would potentially expose me to create best-practices and strategy for future MSMEs projects due to fast-changing demand in business. Upon acquiring the needed skills and networks, I would apply the learned model of incubation to Indonesia's MSMEs, such as SiBakul Jogja community members. The existing connections I have built with business practitioners, I plan to invite them for future collaboration as facilitators or mentors in project association with Indonesia's Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs. In the long term, I aspire to scale my own F&B business while polishing my technology management skills to establish a consultancy firm for Indonesian MSMEs to improve their technology management skills in business operations. While this is my primary path, I remain open to exploring other opportunities as well, which can serve as my chance for personal growth and broaden my impact on society.

Lastly, I thoroughly believe that the Master in MoTIS at ESIEE Paris University is the ideal platform to visualize my future career as an Innovation Project Specialist. With my hands-on experience and continuous learning, I stand to contribute new perspectives about management application of technology for MSMEs in developing countries such as Indonesia. I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge, networks, and insights as a student of ESIEE's vibrant community.

Letters / Motivation letter for admission to bussiness technology master program in University of Twente [2]

Hi everyone! I'm applying for the MSc in Business Information Technology at the University of Twente.

Here's my essay:

Growing up in a low-income family, running a business was about survival. I witnessed that working hard alone rarely ensures sustainable growth. Digital transformation plays a crucial role, yet many micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs) have not maximized its potential. Before working in a small-sized export enterprise, I studied Information Technology while managing my own Food and Beverage (F&B) business and helping MSMEs around digital transformation. While these experiences have honed my project management and business operation skills, I still lack expertise in enterprise architectures and digital strategy development. Therefore, I aspire to pursue a Master's in Business Information Technology at University of Twente with the goal of becoming an Innovation Project Specialist.

Digital transformation is reshaping Indonesia's economy, with MSMEs absorbing 90% of the workforce. Despite government initiatives like Go-Digital and digital literacy programs, fewer than one-third of small businesses effectively use digital tools to boost productivity. Through my F&B business and mentoring women-led enterprises in the SiBakul Jogja community, I learned that technology alone cannot drive growth. Many MSMEs lack both digital literacy and structured management systems. Similarly, while collaborating with French partners in export enterprises, I discovered how weak project management hindered efficiency and innovation. Digital strategy development with well-designed enterprise architectures can bridge this gap, serving MSME's with a roadmap for using digital technologies to achieve business goals and competitiveness.

The Business Information Technology Master's program at the University of Twente offers a practical and interdisciplinary approach to enterprise architectures and digital strategy development. I am particularly drawn to the specialization in Enterprise Architecture & IT Management. Courses such as E-strategising and ICT Management would equip me to design digital strategies with business goals through robust governance, data management, and IT frameworks. In addition, E-Commerce and Architecture of Information Systems would strengthen my ability to build scalable digital business models and design interoperable enterprise systems that support cohesive, organization-wide transformation. Moreover, engaging with UT's innovation ecosystem, including Incubase under Novel-T and the Student Union, would support my entrepreneurship through research and startup incubation.

Beyond studying, I aim to actively contribute to UT's entrepreneurial community by sharing insights from Indonesia's MSME landscape and my experience building an F&B business. For instance, in my venture, I applied project management frameworks to streamline operations and drive customer engagement. I plan to share these practices through UT's workshops, ENACTUS association, classes, and collaborative internships. Working alongside peers from diverse backgrounds, I aspire to co-design scalable, data-informed solutions for digital strategy development. Additionally, by joining international student clubs, I would deepen my cross-cultural collaboration skills and actively participate in the Netherlands's dynamic innovation ecosystem.

After completing two years at UT, I will begin my career in the Netherlands as an Innovation Project Specialist, focusing on implementing strategic digital transformation within enterprises. I plan to collaborate with Dutch industries and startups to learn how digital tools and enterprise architectures are applied in practice. In the medium term, I intend to adapt the incubation models and enterprise architecture approaches to fit the context of Indonesia's MSMEs, such as those members of SiBakul Jogja community. Furthermore, the connection I build with business practitioners and startup founders has become a valuable foundation for long-term collaborations. I plan to invite them as facilitators and mentors in partnership with Indonesia's Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, supporting local MSMEs in innovation. In the long term, I aspire to scale my F&B business and establish a consultancy firm dedicated to helping MSMEs undergo digital transformation in close working with public institutions and local stakeholders. While this is my primary path, I remain open to opportunities in digital transformation, sustainable business, and international consulting to broaden my perspective and impact on society.

In conclusion, I am fully committed to excelling in the Master in Business Information Technology at the University of Twente. I believe that my IT background, entrepreneurial experience, and dedication to continuous learning will enable me to make meaningful contributions as an Innovation Project Specialist, driving the growth of Indonesia MSMEs through technology and innovation. I am eager to expand my knowledge, network, and perspectives while engaging with UT's vibrant community.
