Undergraduate / Given a second chance (Purdue Personal Statement. Transfer Student) [NEW]
500 words or less
Prompt: If you had a second chance - the opportunity to do something over and do it differently - what would you choose to do over and what changes would you make?
My college experience had great potential. If I had one chance to click the rewind button on life I would do it in a heartbeat. I would fight harder for what I now know is worth the fight. As a first generation college student living in a traditional household, I was not given many opportunities or options when it came to college or my future. I gave up easy assuming I could adapt to any college campus and any major for the next few years of my life. I now realize that I have the opportunity to accomplish more of what I want to do if I go somewhere that offers that opportunity to me. With a new opportunity, I will argue until the end; to move a little further away if it meant happiness and better future for me.
The fight began after attending university for about two years. It began after I found out that I was not at all happy. The fight should have begun during my senior year in high school. My mind about studying psychology and behavioral neuroscience has not changed since my senior year in high school.Although with the influence of many individuals, my mind changed many times during semesters at university. With a new opportunity, the influence of others will never exist.
Second chances are not always given. An individual should not describe their life as "settled." Another opportunity will allow me to recieve the degree I have been longing for. It will provide me with the education and experience I deserve.
I realize my beginning sentence isn't strong. My last paragraph is not finished. I just wanted feedback on it before I finished. I feel like it's a bit vague. Also, I was wondering if what I decided to write about was a good topic..
