Scholarship / Studying mathematics - trying to get a intership and need revise [3]

Studying mathematics has been the most enjoyable and rewarding part of my academic career. The logic and reasoning required for the subject keeps me interested. I am also interested in mathematics because I am very good at it. I live how mathematics gives you good thinking skills and problem solving skills. My success in mathematics has given me a strong foundation to approach a degree with both the confidence and enthusiasm needed to succeed.

I work hard and have a good level of concentration. I work efficiently always make good use of my time. Deadlines are met with work to the best of my ability which is of a high quality and is always presented clearly. I have always been able to work well independently, but I also work well with others.

I want to participate in the 2010 MSRI-UP because I want to develop the confidence to succeed in ongoing mathematical studies. I want to increase my skills when it comes to communicating mathematics. I want to improve my ability to read, understand, construct, and write proofs. I want to get acquaint with the culture and activities of research mathematics. I want to develop a skill in reading professional-level mathematics.

I would like to be a successful math teacher. My reason for choosing this career goal is because I am always helping someone in math daily. When I help people they always tell me that I would be a good math teacher. At first I did not see myself as a math teacher, but over the past semester my experiences as a math tutor has encouraged me to teach it. Another reason that I chose this career is because I have had some good math instructors. I would like to emulate them and make my students more knowledgeable about the subject.

The first step in preparing myself for my career is attending San Jacinto College. I transfer to Texas Southern University to get my bachelors degree. Later on I am going to get my masters in Mathematics. I am the first person in my family to attend college and actually get a degree and it inspires me to work harder.
