Graduate / "Hard work pays off" - Health Care, General Personal Statement for MPH [3]

Trying to figure out what to write to group of extraordinary professional/s to exude the type of person I am is one of the difficult tasks I have encounter thus far in life. For good reasons, stating too little will not give an adequate description of me and capabilities, stating too much will either be over fabricating or going over specific guidelines, and your decision holds a major deciding factor to what is my next step in life. In any case, I promise truthful.

I am a diligent, dedicated, hardworking and caring young lady, who has always been compassionate for others. Even as child, if someone I knew needed help and it was within my ability to do so, I gave myself unconditionally; I can honestly say I am still that same person. From working with local organizations in cleaning up the streets back home, going to church on Saturdays with grandma to prepare for church the next morning, and working in fields picking peas, orca, and corn to sell to help my mother pay for school clothes (Now I can appreciate the experience better that I am older, you know for my generation that's more hard work than some are willing to take involuntarily).

"Hard work pays off", is one cliché statement that needs no further explaining. It is also one that has followed throughout my quest for education; even when I was at my lowest, I have pulled myself through. One pivotal time I can draw from as an example is when I was in my second semester (Spring 2008) at Florida A&M University and my GPA dropped down to 1.8, at this point in time I was still grieving for the passing of mother (Fall 2007) and did not realize how it was to reflect in grades. Taking a moment to re-evaluate myself, what would my mother expect of me was reoccurring question that fueled my determination and put into motion my hard work to pull my grades up, not only up; but to 3.0 or better before I graduated for college. Yet again I say "Hard work pays off", I have completed all of my undergraduate coursework with finishing GPA of 3.1 and made both the Dean's List and Honor Roll.

Since choosing Health Care Management for my undergraduate study and matriculating through to graduate status, I have realized the depth and broadness of the health care industry, particularly in Public Health. What I want to focus and interests are in the quality of health care; I want to be in a position/s where my purpose is to improve the quality of care so that it carter the patients and clients, where I can be hands on with the procedure and policies to make sure we, the people, receive and are given a high standard of quality care. In order to make my aspirations a reality, I feel the necessary step is to continue my education on a graduate level, more specifically Master's of Public Health in Health Policy and Management.
