Undergraduate / 'economic and business world' How AUBG education will broaden your global perspective [3]

I know that are a few other essays on this topic, but help will be welcomed...

Write an essay in one or two pages, which will help the AUBG Admissions Committee become acquainted with you, understand your motivation to attend AUBG, and determine how well you can express yourself. The essay should be on the following topic: How an AUBG education will broaden your global perspective and cultivate your capacity for social responsibility. The essay will be evaluated on the basis of clarity, creativity, completeness of response, sentence structure, paragraphing, spelling, grammar, and style.

Living in today's world we are daily acquainted with global views, events which plague and affect our daily lives. Today the world is a smaller and more intricate place. Social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Skype keep us connected anytime anywhere as long as there is Internet. It is a world where we can find nearly everything about anything.

That said I believe that having a global perspective will help everyone to have at least an idea about what is happening in the world. In my country there are at least seven different nationalities, each with its own language, traditions, food, music, literature. Being a part of the nationality that holds the majority of the population does not really help me learn about the other nationalities unless I wish to do so. I have always been a curious child, always wanting to stretch the boundaries set by my elders, question everything, discover new territories whether they were the field behind my house or the very rare trip abroad. One thing that helped me learn more about the different nationalities present in my country is my current high school "Yahya Kemal College" - Struga, which is one of the best schools in which we learn up-close and personal about the other nationalities, more about their culture, daily lives which are not so different from ours. Studying here I learned another language - Turkish, the Turks represent around 10% of the population, and while conversing I learned to understand Albanian, to add to my impressive previous knowledge of six languages.

I have a habit of questioning everything and everyone about their views. It was here that I met a person who told me something that I thought about a lot and finally agreed to. "I have always believed that people are life and life is people connected as one in the same energy with the same vibration and if one can expose themselves to as many different cultures, spending time with the people in the different environments, they can begin to come to a global understanding of the true meaning of the essence of life." Our skin colour, religion, language, customs, ethnic diversity should not separate us as people. This life and our differences are wonderful gifts given to us and we should cherish and appreciate them. We are living in an era where our colour, nationality, culture, religion should not make us keep status quo, but to break it, go forward while looking back at the past, learning from the mistakes so we do not repeat them in the future. All of us are born with a miniscule knowledge of all the world languages and we slowly forget them as we learn our mother tongues. We need to look back and try to re learn some of the languages, learn the culture of the people that spoke them and cultivate it so maybe in the next decade a couple of languages and cultures will not be declared extinct. We are all born with that burning passion of wanting to live life to the fullest, to maximize that precious time that has been given to us. All we need to do is open our eyes and see perfection which is present everywhere.

Growing up, I joined a few Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs). As an avid reader, while growing up I was often a very shy person and volunteering help me be more outgoing. I helped to organize various multiethnic concerts, dinners, shows, art exhibitions which encouraged the community to get better acquainted with the other nationalities they life with. Within the organization I led a creativity group, in it we made jewellery, sold it and with the profits gained we bought new materials. The NGO I was a part of - The Youth Council of Ohrid, sponsored by USAID opened a day care centre for the hospitalized children in one of the hospitals in Ohrid. The children had various disabilities and as volunteers we learned to take care of them, help them when they needed help and simply be there for them. By volunteering and visiting seminars, I gained immense experience and knowledge about various topics that plague the youth such as human trafficking, usage of psychoactive substances (drugs, alcohol, and tobacco), safe and smart usage of electricity, team work, leadership, youth politics, and youth activism. I also helped the NGO with translating documents and memos into English and from English. The interpreter, who checked my work when I was a ninth grader, for the official documents judged it to be exceptional and surprising for a ninth grader; and from then on they have judged it to be above the average level of a twelfth grader or a first year university student.

Taking into consideration the fact that AUBG offers a unique educational experience, I believe it to be a perfect place for the continuation of my studies. Studying there will further help me enter the economic and business world as a well rounded professional with an international experience. AUBG is one of the universities that focus on building and developing the leadership possibilities of their students. I find myself being optimistic about this university and the skills and education given there which will equip me to confidently enter the fast paced and complex business and economic world.

So anyone? Constructive criticism is more than welcomed that includes ideas on what and how to change something.g

Thanks and don't forget to smile today and tomorrow =)
