Graduate / Statement of Purpose for Masters in Electrical Engineering DSP for US university [3]

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I,Ahmed, am applying to University of XXX for the admission to Master's Program in Electrical Engineering with specialization in the field of Digital Signal Processing (DSP). Here is my brief statement of purpose.

I firmly believe that inquisitive and explorative attitude leads to constant learning process. I look for graduate study to refine my knowledge and skills in my area of interest. I believe it will also serve to give direction to my goal.

Right from my High school days I had a strong inclination to be a Computer Engineer. My Interest in the subject has grown with each passing year and it has reached where even Ph.D. will not quench my thirst for knowledge. I have come to terms with the fact that there is an enormous proportion of subject to be assimilated, therefore I want to take up an advanced course for my career. These coupled with a background of my educated father and brother has made my choice of higher studies all the more obvious.

I got admitted to xxx University, one of the top institutions in the province, through an entrance exam and by merit. The undergraduate program at University is a well rounded program. I took Computer Engineering as my major for it offered me many choices of specialization. During undergraduate study I learnt numerous Subjects like-Electronics, Digital Logic Design, Programming in C, C++ & Java, Microprocessors, Communication Systems, VLSI Design Techniques, Computer Communication Networks, Software Engineering, Wireless Communication, Microwave & Optical Communication and DSP. In particular I like DSP and would like to specialize in that. My fascination with DSP began in the third year of my undergraduate study when my Professor showed me the project he worked on during his college days. My final year project was Image Compression using wavelet-based method.

We are at the dawn of the 21st century. A century, which has already witnessed many key events. Events, which are affecting our lives in a manner that we might not even, be aware of. One such occurrence was the American war on terror. A striking feature of the war was America's technological superiority or to be more precise its superiority or puissance in the field of DSP. The impact of DSP could be observed on various fronts ranging from satellite imagery to control of sophisticated missiles. The impact of DSP is not circumscribed only to the military but is visible even in automobiles, audio processing, image processing, security systems, etc. In fact the impact has been on a gargantuan scale.

I am aware universities in USA offer great scope and encouragement for Intellectual and academic development. The process of technical advancement is very fast in USA. Hence, USA has emerged as world leader in Science and Technology. In order to keep myself updated with latest technical advances I am keen to obtain advanced degree in USA.

After consulting my Professors, Friends, seniors studying in USA your university has been recommended very highly for its excellent faculty and learning experience. I always believe that essence of university education lies in synergetic relationship between student and his department. I feel that graduate study at your university will be the most logical extensions of my objectives. I am confident that wholesome education that I receive at your university will stand me in good stead through out my career.

I sincerely request you to consider my application for admission and financial aid into University of XXX. I would be grateful to you if I am accorded the opportunity to pursue my higher studies and given the opportunity, I am sure that I will be able to able to achieve my goals keeping in touch with the expectations of the university.
