Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
Though I am only 17 years old, I have experienced lots of events that have changed my identity, some were enjoyable, and some were depressing. Here I would like to talk about a significant experience which enhanced my heart and my body and gives lots of other advantages.
Since my family has only one child just like most Chinese families do, my parents and grandparents treated me like an emperor, and as a result, I was almost 50kg at the age of 9. After my father's consideration, he asked me to lose some weight by doing a kind of sport, and this sport came to be badminton at last.
My father was once trained in the civic badminton team, thus he had some skills of playing badminton and was able to teach me the very basic ones of them. However, when I began my training I found that was very boring and tiring. Everyday I had to practice doing the fundamental moves repeatedly for hundreds of times even I had already known how to do them; after this repeating exercise, I had to run for 3000m to improve my cardiovascular ability.. Honestly, I had thought about give it up many times, but I did not, because every time I thought about giving up, I realized that there were lots of other young kids doing the same exercises as mine while none of them ever tried to skip the training, instead they put 100 percent concentration into it. And I would feel ashamed having the idea of giving up. After then, I began to try my best in every kind of skill training so that I became a very good badminton player, actually I have got the second place in Civil youth badminton competition and forth place in Provincial badminton competition as a member of Civic team. From learning badminton, I have known the importance of always try your best, focusing on your work, and never give it up.
In addition, the effect of losing weight by playing badminton is definitely good, while it also made me a good runner and jumper. But after training badminton for 3 years, I have got much more advantages from it. First of all, there are lots of students who likes to play badminton in the school, playing together is a very good way to make friends who shares similar hobby. Also, being expert at an sport is very useful, in fact I became the minister of Art and Sports of Student Council in my school thanks to my advantage of playing good badminton.
All in all, I am really grateful to my father's decision of sending me to play badminton, though the initial purpose was only to make me not so fat. Though the whole history of my training life, I was taught how important it is to have a strong heart and firm determinations, I was also given a good body that helps avoid being sick easily. Last but not the least, playing badminton gives me confidence to face challenges, provides me opportunities to make new friends. After several decades, when I look back to my adolescence, playing badminton would still be a good choice, because it had impacted me so much giving me a lot of advantages to use till I am too old to hold a badminton racket into air.
