Undergraduate / UC Transfer Prompt 1- human behavior [NEW]

I don't know if my essay sounds too jumpy or grammatical errors. Any kind of comment is welcomed. Thank you in advance.

Prompt: What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field - such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities - and what you have gained from your involvement.

It was a gloomy, rainy day; I had just gotten out of class and was riding my bike home with my eyes on the road. As I look up it suddenly occurred to me that there was another biker riding on the wrong side of the road heading towards me full speed ahead. Knowing it was wet and slippery as well as not having good breaks I tried my best to stop and get out of this biker's way. Before you know it we collided. The biker quickly said sorry and speed off leaving me on the ground scrapped up. It made wonder why the biker did not even stop long enough to see if I was okay or why he was even going the wrong direction of traffic. This led me with curiosity of human behavior.

Some of my other personal experiences further emphasized my interest in studying human behavior. Volunteering at a first grade classroom at Thousand Oak Elementary School in Berkeley, allowed me to observe children and take notice that each student responds differently when instructed by the teacher. Some students happily followed direction; however others hesitated or avoided completing their task. Often times, students would seek attention by misbehaving and flaunt their completed work.

Another experience is my internship as an Emergency Medical Technician which included an ambulance ride-along. We got a call from the dispatcher for an old man who just came out from a dialysis and needed transporting to his nursing home. This man was known for swinging at people and yelling in his native language making it difficult to transport him. Before we transported this old man to his nursing home, it was interesting to observe the reactions of the two EMTs I was with. One EMT was upset about it and was doing everything in his power to get out of the call by attempting to persuade the dispatcher to reassign him, the other EMT wanted to do the call and get it over with. It intrigued me that they had two different approaches to the same situation

Figuring out how and why people act the way they do, to me it's was like solving a puzzle. By listening and observing people in how they act in a situation fascinates me. I often find myself using my imagination to work out how others feel under certain circumstances or why they think or act in the specific manner. I am highly ambitious about my interest in human behavior and plan to pursue them energetically in pursing higher education.
